This machine is awesome! It's great for beginners and avid used alike. Setup is simple and the touch screen is very user-friendly. The preprogrammed stitches and embroidery patterns are super helpful. Even the manual and troubleshooting guide are well planned out. This is a great overall system and worth every penny.
The is a fantastic sewing machine for beginner and advanced sewists alike! I love the computerized embroider features and it's very quiet. Going from sewing mode to embroidery mode a very quick as well. It also comes with several feet and other usefully bits as well. I really enjoy this machine and plan to keep it for a long time
Over a year ago I purchased the Brother SE600 sewing machine. Since I had not sewn since the 80's, I did take a class specific to the use of the SE600. The class gave me a lot of confidence to take advantage of all the options with the SE600. I have made several quilts with this machine and used the embroidery option to add names and embroider cute images on towels and shirts. The machine has been amazing for me with my beginner quilting. It is so easy to setup and I can even do free motion quilting on this machine. Another thing I want to be sure to mention is that the support I've received on the Brother website and through emails has been AMAZING! As I have wanted to add an extension table to my machine and buy more feet, they have been there every step of the way to get me to the right products. There is an extension table available that fits perfectly with the SE600 which makes sewing larger items, like the top of the quilt, much easier.
I gave this machine to my mom for Christmas last year to replace her ancient Singer. We did a lot of shopping around and eventually landed on this SE600 because it was the best of both worlds - advanced sewing (100+ stitches) and intro embroidery (80 built-in designs). Mom is a totally competent sewer, but since this machine she's been able to try some trickier techniques and fabrics. Even if her old machine was able to do it, she seems to be more confident with this one. Also, the ease of use is pretty astonishing. Since it's largely digital, there's definitely a learning curve, but Mom has been able to follow along with the step-by-step manual and eventually know the core processes by heart. Embroidery is totally new to us, and of course our imaginations ran away with us we considered a Bernina for .05 seconds. The price point on this Brother is a ridiculous value for what you're able to create. I bought a cheap multi-pack of embroidery thread and have had so much fun. As a first try, I embroidered my dad's name on a couple cheap handkerchiefs and they came out so great that I gave them to him as a gift! And while the 80 included designs are kind of amazing, I was ecstatic to learn that I could load other designs into the machine. There are amazing libraries of designs online that have thousands of designs (loads are free but some are ~$2 which I think is no big deal since you own the design forever). The photos attached are from two designs I bought and embroidered on my nephew's t-shirts. So fun! I've done them in other colors for adult bandannas and they're always hits. We've used this machine for all sorts of things - teaching myself sewing basics, watching mom sew a tulle owl Halloween costume, embroidering napkins for the Christmas table, and simply replacing buttons on shirts, sweaters, and pants. Such a huge fan! When I was first shopping I almost talked myself into a more expensive machine, but I am so pleased with this and honestly I can't see us outgrowing it anytime soon. Highly recommend!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first sewing machine ever and I'm super happy with my brother SE600. The esthetic of it is very sleek and high end. It's made in Vietnam. The instructions in the manual are very comprehensive and I love that it has the threading directions right on the machine as well. The little light in the needle area is also a very nice touch. When I was using it tonight to sew up some holes in my husbands clothes, he commented that he didn't even know I was using the machine because it is so quite! It comes with all the tools you could need except for the thread of course (although it does come with a few bobbins). And there is a sheet that comes with it detailing what every single item is. I love that's it's a 2 in 1 machine too with the embroidery. As someone who lives in a 800 square foot apartment, saving space is very important. Machine performs well, is easy to use and looks good too!
The Brother SE600 goes above and beyond with its features. I was originally intimidated with using a computerized machine (I've only used my mom's one from 1970 before) and I was surprised at how easy and intuitive this machine is. The large LCD touch screen makes selecting your designs easy and quick, and the 4x4 hoop is extremely easy to assemble and place your fabric on. The ability to upload new designs through a USB stick is amazing--I can't wait to create new monograms! The expanded 6.4 w x 4.1 h needle-to-arm workspace will allow me to work with bulkier fabrics as well that I couldn't do with my old machine. Very good quality and highly recommend! Let me first say that I am highly impressed! I have been sewing since I took textiles classes in high school and have been looking for an upgrade to my beginners sewing machine I bought 8 years ago. I am so glad I found this 2 in 1 computerized sewing and embroidery machine :D. This Brother SE600 is great for any skill level as you have 103 stitch options for your basic to advanced sewing needs in addition to 80 built in simple to elaborate embroidery designs for you to get creative with. Some of the designs include snowflakes, Christmas trees, floral designs, fancy lettering, etc. I recently embroidered a J to personalize my hand towel (check out the pictures attached)! It is not hard to set up the machine for embroidering (once I switched to the embroidery arm and embroidery foot, and then pressed the start button, this beautiful J was done in less than 4 minutes!!! One thing I really like about this machine is that you are not limited to the 80 built in embroidery designs. It comes with an USB port where you can import as many designs as you want, from ones you can purchase for a buck or two to your own embroidery designs! You just have to make sure your design files are in .pes format :). Pros: - You can control your sewing and embroidering speed (3 settings) - Machine does most of the work! There is a start and stop button so the machine does the sewing and embroidery itself with the press of a button. - Easy to feed the fabric - Large enough needle to arm workspace for bulkier projects (e.g. quilts) - Comes with 7 sewing feet (for sewing zippers, buttons, monogramming, overcasting, etc.) - Select, edit, and preview your designs in color on the LCD touch screen before the machine actually starts embroidering - There is also a built-in color palette to match the threads you are using so that you can see how your designs will actually look :) - Automatic needle threader…omg saves me so much time and frustration from trying to manually push the thread through the tiny needle hole! This feature is great for preventing eye strain too! - Beautiful embroidery designs (note: ideal for smaller embroidery projects as the embroidery area is 4 x 4) Cons: - Does not include an USB stick (the only thing I wish could have been included, but definitely not a dealbreaker as this beautiful and high quality machine is already an unbelievable price for so many useful and creative features). Overall, would recommend this Brother SE600 for anyone looking to find an affordable sewing and embroidery machine from a good brand that will last a long time. My beginners sewing machine is from Brother (still works after 8 years and multiple dresses and pillows I have made) and the sewing machines from my high school textile classes were from Brother too. I am glad that a brand I trust decided to make this timeless 2 in 1 machine. Awesome value and quality for a great price! Note: I wrote this review as part of a contest.
I love this machine! I had sold my old machine because we moved. I hadn't sewn in a while and though I could always upgrade later. Now with Covid-19 having family in healthcare I felt compelled to get back to sewing. This machine was the perfect time upgrade. It was at the right price point and has given me the opportunity to really be creative with embroidery. It has made me fall in love with sewing all over again.
The Brother SE600 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine with Color LCD display, 80 Embroidery Designs machine is amazing! I've never embroidered something before and it was quick and easy. You load the fabric, select your design, and you're off! A simple initial on a towel or a handkerchief makes an excellent stocking stuffer, and takes less than 10 minutes. Additionally, I really enjoyed the display screen. It was super intuitive, and very modern! Found it really great that the machine tracked where the thread was on the fabric, and gave time updates as to how long the stitching would take. Simple to load, simple to remove. Who knew so much simplicity would lead to such creativity? I am writing this review as part of a contest.
I am new to embroidery but the machine makes everything easy. I didn't want to give 5 stars as Brother will not honour the warranty when I registered my machine.
