Went together very easily. Looks great on the desk even though the finish is not quite the same. But that is probably because the desk is another brand. Because the hutch was made for another desk, I did not attach it to mine. I put felt along the bottom so it would not scratch my desk. Highly recomment it.
I purchased this to go on top of the matching file cabinet I purchased from a different company. This is, put simply, a beautiful hutch! I couldn't ask for better. I only wish it came with a light in the top. It took 2 of us a little while to put together, but honestly it wasn't that bad. I did most of it myself. As I tell my husband, if you read the instructions and check your parts list BEFORE you start, you won't have any problems!
This hutch is quite good looking and functional. All the pieces in this line seem durable and easy to clean. However, the pieces are heavy and you will need two strong people to assemble and move it. The directions will tell you to mount the hutch onto the file cabinet top, THEN mount the whole assembly onto the file cabinet. This is a little tricky and needs two strong people. The top molding covers only the front, so if you place units side-by-side, they will butt together. The decorative hardware on the columns is a nice design feature. However, the nails provided are too short. Also, I did not like the gunmetal finish. This was easily changed to an antiqued brass finish by using Run'nBuff gold leaf, then stippling black paint over it. I then used 1" brass escutcheon pins to attach. Looks great!
This is a really good looking piece and adds to the appearance of the file cabinet. The quality is low and load limits for the shelves is only 30 pounds.
This just added so much to the appearance of the filing cabinet! It doesn't feel as sturdy as the cabinet itself, but I have it against a wall and felt safe. Can be easily nicked, but overall, well worth the time and money.
The hutch arrive few days before the expected deivery date which was great! It was easy to assemble, fits perfectly on my (Sauder) two-drawer lateral file, and matches the cherry finish perfectly (even the decorative hardware matches perfectly). I did not attach it to the lateral file as per the instructions. It just sits on top of the file; the weight of it holds it nicely in place. My printer sits on the file cabinet (in the bottom of the hutch); I was easily able to cut a little hole in the bottom of the back panel and feed the printer cables through it. Looks very nice!
