I love everything about the stove but don't like asking someone to look up how to use each separate thing. I want a paper manual that I can look at while using the stove. I can't work with the stove in the kitchen when the computer is in another room not that close.
The stove is responsive and very quick. It's noticeably quicker to get a meal cooked. We put the range through its paces over Thanksgiving weekend. It bakes, roasts, and air fries very well. Turkey mode was fairly good, although the target temperature of 170 was higher than the USDA target of 165. It was handy to see the temperature of the turkey as it cooked, and a 14 lb spatchcocked turkey took about 90 minutes to be fully roasted. Air fried vegetables and fish come out crispy.
So far our Cafe induction range has been Great!! The burners create such an even heating zone with no hot spots in the pan. And, talk about fast heating,, absolutely no comparison to our replaced gas range!! We've also used the oven for several meals so far and while it takes a little time to get to know it,, we are also SUPER pleased with how it operates and the GREAT results we have achieved!! So much better than using gas and its adverse health effects!! We had to wait for six months until it was in stock at our preferred store,, but the wait was well worth it!!
The best cooking experience yet. Thought I liked gas but induction is best. Looked at many ranges and the Cafe was our choice. We are now moving to a new location and have purchased a cafe for our new residence.
I have had this stove for three weeks now and am adjusting to induction cooking which is much faster than the electric burners I had with the previous stove. It claims to boil water within 110 seconds and I can attest to that with a pot that contained 2 cups of water. There was an initial smell from the oven after the first few times I used it which made me think I forgot to remove plastic from the inside but I think it was just "new oven smell" - not at all similar to new car smell - but it is subsiding as I use it. Recipes usually recommend heating your pans to medium high but I have found that this tends to be too high on this range and a setting just above medium works better. I'm not a fast cooker and things were heating up way too fast on a higher heat setting. The knob controls are intuitive and the buzzing sound of cool pans is normal, especially if you are using lower quality or thinner pans with stainless steel in them. The buzzing goes away as the pan heats up and is also less noticeable if you use a lower heat setting or a thicker bottomed pan. I was so happy to find out that the warming center didn't require an induction product as I often use a plate to keep food warm after cooking on the warming burner. I haven't used the app that much aside from getting alerts about oven temps and finish times. One very small annoyance is the digital screen remains off until you touch it - but when you touch it, it activates the area you touched immediately. Not knowing yet where each feature is on the touch screen, I have to cancel whatever it was I didn't want in order to start the action I did want. Overall, I have found this to be a very nice product and it is the classiest looking thing in my kitchen. Now I want to upgrade all my appliances to Cafe!
Cooking with induction is different from electric and gas. There is a learning curve. I have been using my new stove for about three weeks now. Here are three aspects which are my favorites. The stove heats fast whether it is water in my teapot or the skillet for cooking meats. Likewise when I turn it down, it responds immediately. This allows vegetables and sauces to simmer or just to keep warm. The stove top is easy to clean because spills do not burn onto it. The only negative so far is with the oven. It cooks beautifully, but it is disappointingly slow to preheat. Overall, I am very glad I decided to give this stove a try.
LOVE the induction top. It heats up fast , immediate off and surface even cools off fast when the pan is removed. Having the warmer site is handy and 3 size burners accommodate any pan. The converction oven works well and the slide out shelf is great Only drawback so far is the self clean feature. It had significant odor for several hours and left residue on the oven floor I had to scrub off. I rarely use the self clean, but did have drippings that burned on the bottom. I didn't try the steam clean I am looking foreword to trying the Sous Vide attachment I cook a lot, and really appreciate having a high quality appliance. I recommend this for folks who do cook often.
Love this stove. First induction, and amazed at how quickly things heat up. Oven performs well, too. The steam clean feature doesn't really work well, still had a fair amount of water left in the bottom (I followed the directions). Owner's manual is quite pitiful, needs so much more. Some of the screw heads seen from the outside of the stove holding things together don't seem to be in the holes straight, almost like a machine built it with no way to line the holes up. And found a screw in the oven but didn't see any place it could have come from. All-in-all, for the month that it has been used, I really like it. Didn't really buy it for all the bells and whistles such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, phone app, etc. Just wanted a good stove with an evenly heating and consistent oven. And it's nice that the cooktop is so easy to clean, unlike the radiant glass top stove it replaced. Induction is so much better. Just hope it lasts 18 years or longer like my last stove.
We love the looks of the range but so far there are several items we don't like. 1. Broil mode seems to be weak compared to our range that was from the 90's even when it's on high. 2. The induction burners don't turn on unless you have a pan that fits the burner. If it is slightly smaller than the burner it doesn't let the burner turn on. I have used other induction ranges that were not so sensitive and offered more flexibility to pan size. 3. The door shuts crooked. 4. The stainless on top of the range between the glass and the switches scratches very easily and stains easily from oils. The glass needs to extended to the front edge of the range in my opinion. 5. Everything seems to take longer to bake than recipes say. Even when using convection. If it says 15 minutes plan for 17-18 minutes.
The induction coils are not as wide as the decals on top of the stove as a result only the very center of your pot or pan gets hot. This results in an unevenly heated cooking surface where you have to move the food around or the food on the outside won't get cooked as much as the food in the middle. This stove is much too expensive for this type of oversight - shame on the GE engineers who put this together. In addition only the lower over has convection and air fry. The upper over is less versatile than my toaster oven. AGAIN THIS IS MUCH TOO EXPENSIVE FOR SUCH AN OVERSIGHT- SHAME ON GE!
