About a little over a week ago I received my 3-Burner Big Gas Grill (SPG90B) with the Deluxe BBQ Grill Box. I ordered this without physically seeing the BBQ, but ordered it based on photos and reviews. It was replacing an expensive Char-Broiler 4 burner gas grill that had rusted out. Here are my initial impressions based on only a couple of days of use. 1. Loved the quick setup, basically sliding on the legs and tighting them and putting the hand on the grill box. This will be an easy grill to move around. 2. I was worried about the height of the grill box cover from the grill grates, after using it I don't think it will be any problem (My bigger items like roasts and hams will be using my smoker.) 3. Able to keep and maintain a good cooking temperature. 4. Bonus, I did not realize that grill box could take wood chips. One night I grilled hamburgers, with apple and peacan wood chips. They were delicious. 5. Used my cast iron pan over the open burner, very convenient. Since, It met my expectations I decided to go ahead and pick up the professional griddle, very glad I did. I have used it for cooking sliced bacon and garlic seasoned potatoe wedges (which turned out terrific). It came with a holder for holding a grease can which did work, but today I pickup the Professional Grease Cup which will be a lot better. Overall very pleased with the flexibility of this grill, no buyers remorse.
The MOST versatile outdoor kitchen. The grill box cooks better than any regular grill I've had. It is extremely portable, sets up quickly. I REALLY like the grill box. I can take it off, remove the grates and give the whole unit a thorough cleaning .. great for power outages or tail gating. (Sorry the picture is in doors, unboxing. The outside picture exceeded size limits)
For years... I've been looking at the Camp Chef grills that others camped with - in envy. Four years, my better half suprised me with the Big Gas Grill (yea - a play on names - say that fast 5 times) and it has gone with us to some amazing places for some amazing meals. Over the past years, we have added the griddle and grill-box and use the heck out of them. Now looking for the Pizza oven to go with it.
I have had one of these for several years. My Son had this on his Christmass wish list after using mine this summer. So I got it for him. It can heat a big pot of water for corn in a few minutes next to the grill.
This is not a cheap camp stove it is part of a system for camping that can be expanded as you need to ramp up your cooking. Since so much of the products in the market are "use and throw away" it is nice to see something built for use and "add on" as needed. The best accessory is the griddle and cover in my opinion.
You get the box included with stove. That is a good feature. Usually they cost an additional 175 plus dollars
The Big Gas Grill is really nice for travel. Folds up and fits neatly into back of our Rav4. It is very powerful and cooks food nicely. If you are buying a carry bag for the Big Gas Grill, be sure to order the one with the wheels. Some bags say they fit a three-burner stove, but only the one with the wheels fits this stove.
This is a well-built unit. And, unlike most camp grills, it produces very good heat. (Be careful not to burn your food on the grill.) I have also used the extra burner to do some frying and it works good. Like any grill, I am still "learning" it. But so far, it has been great. I am considering getting the bag with the wheels because with this unit is not light. But the weight comes with the stoutness.
The only thing that is wrong with this is the BBQ part that sits on the burners. The lid is bent and does not shut correctly and it has some sort of sticky oil all over it. I have wiped and scrubbed on it and cannot get it to come off. It won't let me upload all the pics to show the oily residue on it and how crooked it shuts. I'm sure that it is not this way on all of them, I just got a bad draw! Hoping that I will get a replacement for it. Other then that issue, you will love it all, I highly recommend it!
Used for the first time camping this weekend. Cooked 2 steaks had grease fire and grease on burners and metal plate around burners not sure why doesn't have a grease pan to catch grease. Hope can figure issue out expensive grill to grease all over my camper storage . ☹️
