Havent used them yet. I bought two, one for each side. I wanted the extra water not only for drinking, but for doing dishes, washing clothes if I have to, or even taking a small bath. Lots of uses. The tanks do look smaller than I expected, but they do hold the 3 gallons each. I do like that the stove side grates will still fit over top of the tanks with the last two rings of the side grate available to hang thins, The price of these things though have gone through the roof from what you could get them a few years ago. I hope they work fine when I actually use them. I don't know yet if it just heats the water up or actually brings it to a boil.
Enough water to easily last a person the entire day, including a quick wash up of yourself before bed. It took a short while for the completely full tank to get to hot water temps but after it did it stayed hot/warm even when the stove was down to coals before waking upin the morning.
Just received the tank for my Alpine barrel stove. It is well made out of top grade stainless steal! Great craftsmanship. Am looking forward to using it soon with my stove and tent. Took a month to get it, but I do believe the wait was worth it!
Very well constructed works perfectly with stove
We use the Camp Chef stove outside at camp. We store it in the mud room when we leave. The tank heats to water to a perfect simmer when full. We just take water from the tap and top off the tank as we use it. The tank is food grade quality so it is great for tea, instant coffee, soups...and for washing dishes and hygiene. Just keep it full when stove is lit to avoid melting the silicone bulkhead washers on the tap. Convenient to use and clean. I may order a second one.
This hot water tank fits the Camp Chef Cylinder stove perfectly, will mount on either side of the stove and still utilizes the racks for cooking, warming or drying cloths. The only draw back is when the water starts to boil, it makes a lot of noise, popping and cracking noise when the water begins to boil, and once it reaches boiling temperature, it creates a lot of noise. we found if we put the tank on top of the rack on the edge of the stove it created a lot less noise and a more pleasurable sleeping experience.. good product..
The tank is only compatible with specif model type of the same brand, i.e. not univeral type. That's a drawback. Other than that, no complaints.
The unit is solid and stainless steel. One issue I had was that the brass nut to mount the spigot is lousy. Would not screw on the spigot without seriously damaging the threads on the spigot. Had to buy a new nut at a hardware store
Stop... Be sure to buy the stove First !!! I bought this. No I can't find the stove !!
