Bought this a few weeks ago and used on a recent camp trip to make samosas (recipe from “Pudgie Revolution”). They were delicious. The heavy construction of the pie maker ensured the samosas were evenly browned, and the filling was hot. And I liked being able to make two “pies” at once and anticipate getting much use from this pie maker in the future.
I have purchased several other brands from name brand sporting goods stores, and this is by far a more superior product. Love the fact that it is pre-seasoned cast iron and it has deep pockets to hold more ingredients. The divider seals the sandwiches on all four sides. We have been using this product for over a year, and the cast iron does not rust. Try pizza sandwiches or chocolate pudding. YUMMY
I bought this having read reviews of similar products and priced them as well. This is a good heavy cast iron product that is priced 1/2 of what other retailers are selling cast iron double pie irons for. Ordering this was a no brainer. I used it on our last camping trip for the first time and it worked just like they say it will! So many of our 'dinners' over the camp fire were...well, not good. But dessert made in the pie iron was the best thing we had all week! LOVE IT!
Kid's love making "cherry pie" in them and the long handle keeps them far enough from the camp fire they don't get burned. Since we camp every weekend they will get plenty of use.
This was a great product. We took it camping with us and made french toast for breakfast, pizza for lunch and apple turnovers for dessert. With a little imagination, the possibilities are endless. I plan to purchase another for when the kids come along. I recomend it 100%.
This is a fun product and a must have on family camping trips. You can make just about anything from dessert to lunch! The double one is probably too heavy for kids to handle, but no problem for adults.
They are good for sandwiches but I wish they would have made them without the center bar. They are also to heavy for children
Although this product is sturdy, it's bulky, heavy, & somewhat difficult to handle without both hands. And as big as it is, I couldn't fit standard size white bread sandwiches in it without trimming off the crusts, which made the filling ooze out & burn to the plates. I'd recommend sticking with a single pie maker.
