The EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM lens combines optical excellence with cutting-edge performance, providing an ultra-wide angle of view in a compact, portable package, perfect for EOS cameras with an APS-C sensor. I have had this lens a while now and absolutely love it. I do Architecture photos a lot of my own work and designs and until this lens came out had a hard time on my 7D getting all the building in in tight urban spaces. Also around the house it allows great shots of my backyard that I designed and built. Unless you are a micro pixel peeper this lens is incredibly sharp and gets the small details perfectly. Do not let the synthetic body bother you. It is so light, easy to carry in a pocket and unless you abuse lenses it will last for years (Decades?). Thank you Canon for this lens.
I bought this lens because of the quality photos produced by it. This is one of the least expensive lenses in my collection. This lens produces the best landscape photos, with the sharpest, and best field of view of any lens I own. This is a very light weight, and small lens that I can always depend on for great shots.
Canon has always had excellent quality products. My father was a photographer his entire life. He owned Canon equipment, was highly satisfied with Canon's quality and recommended Canon equipment to his friends and to me as well. I have already purchased other items from Canon besides the camera equipment I own. I love their quality, features and their excellent service.
I am very pleased with my purchase. The pictures I have taken so far have been outstanding. This purchase truly added to the missing item in my camera bag.
Fantastic lens for taking wide angle shots. Crystal clear to the edge, no perceivable distortion or color variance as I have seen on some lenses. With that said, despite the large aperture, you need additional light to get the best picture, so a good flash in partnership inside a building does aid in a perfect picture.
I bought this lens about 10 months ago and so far the image and build quality has been excellent, although the lens has noticeable distortion and chromatic aberration towards the edges the images came out great. The lens is not the greatest in low light but that is to be expected from a wide-angle lens in this price range
Bought this lens to take pictures and video of home during holidays.
I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I shoot with apertures between f/8-11 for all focal lengths. Havent had to use it on tripod yet. The image stabilization works great. It is acceptably sharp. The depth of field is fantastic. Very fast and very quiet autofocus. I wish I had bought this lens before buying the other lenses. I recommend this lens for landscape photographers using apsc cameras.
Im a real estate agent, and sometimes I need to take pictures of properties before an actual photographer goes out there, This lence is great affordable and gets the full room from close up.
For the price, it is a great wide angle lens. I even kind of like the distortion at 10mm. :) The only qualm I have with it is the smaller max aperture. I recently went to Luray Caverns, and took this lens and my 18-55mm. I ended up only using this lens. If the aperture were bigger, I wouldn't have had to bump my ISO up to 3200. But it is great to hand hold, and works pretty well in lower light otherwise. It is great for landscapes, or when you need to be closer to the subject. With this lens and my 50mm, I no longer use my 18-55mm.
