This lens is a little on the pricey side, but well worth the money paid if you love photography! It is a bit heavier than the others in my collection but I must say with this being my first venture into Canons "L" series lenses i do not regret my purchase, the diffrence in the color and sharpness of my pictures are amazing!

I'm loving this lens so far, the image quality is superb and the IS is a huge help for my shaky hands! It was worth spending the extra bucks for it!!
I purchased this lens a few weeks ago and I can't put it down. If you are looking for a macro lens, you can't go wrong with this one. I will let the attached photos speak for the lens. what you see is what you get. No additional sharpening was do on these photos. Pretty much as shot, handheld using auto focus with very little exposure and color adjustments in post process. I would highly recommend this lens.
I ordered this lens not long ago and I really like it. I have not gotten a chance to use it a lot but the times I have it performed really well.
Nice macro lens, somewhat difficult to hand hold but super sharp.
This is my first macro lens, and my third L series lens. So far I am blown away, even compared to my beloved 70-200. Have not used it for portrait yet so no comments there. I primarily shoot landscape so this is a big departure for me, but just what I was looking for in trying to expand my photo skills. I am attaching literally the 5th and 15th photos I have taken with this lens so far, and am very excited about the potential. I have a lot to learn on macro, especially at 1:1 where the DOF is like 1mm but so far am having fun.
Beautiful macro lens that provides ultra sharp close up photography. Great for general non-macro use as well. Hood is a bit large for this type of lens, but easy to shoot without it, if too bulky.
The EF 100mm 2.8L is a lens that you love right away. I've only had it a couple of weeks, but it's won my heart because it is such a delightful instrument to use. Walking around the garden or through the neighborhood, you can get great macro photos without *having* to set up the tripod. The focal length suits photographing flowers--you don't have to get too close and you're not too far. The color and contrast look great. The lens is reasonably light. The ability to select the focusing range is very nice since it limits the focus hunting. I'm looking forward to shooting portraits with this lens. Being a great lens for my 2 favorite types of photos (macro, portrait) made this a really desirable lens for me. I think it's a terrific complement to the 70-200mm L lens and I highly recommend it.
Looks and feels like new. I forgot very quickly that the lens was preciously owned. I love this lens!
