Bought the 6d as a upgrade to my 60d. The camera's controls, weight and feel are very similar to the 60d. I'm impressed with the low noise in high ISO situations. Many have complained about the AF issue. I have not had any problems. Is this a perfect camera? No, there is no such thing, but it is a very good camera. You just need to determine what type of photos you'll be taking

After 10 months and 6,800+ exposures, I've come to know the camera a bit. What I like: In "S" mode, it's quieter than the Leica M3 it replaced. This really helps when photographing camera shy people. Image stabilization allows me to squeeze off exposures of up to a second with acceptable results, provided the subject does not move. The 24-105 f/4 L lens is lovely. I never though I could live without f/1.4, but the sensor on the 6D is so good I can get away with shooting at ISO 1600 with almost no "grain". The lens itself is sharp, with nice bokeh. It's range (I find it shoot it at 24 and 105 about 50% of the time) is perfect for a "walk around" lens. While prime lenses are sharper, in practice, the hand held difference is negligible. Not having to change lenses during a shoot is a big plus. I set the focuser to use the center sensor only. The camera focuses accurately (*almost* as good as the M3). Reframing after focus is almost automatic for me after decades of Leica use. The camera does not have a built in flash. This is good. On camera flash almost always makes for lousy portraits. Instead I use the Canon 430EXII in bounce mode, which creates nicely lit shots. What could be better: The software that came with the camera only works on Windows and Macs. I use Linux almost exclusively, so I have extra work to port the images over to my Linux box. The EOS Utility downloading software often hangs and displays "Busy". When this happens, the photos don't download at all. I need to reboot the computer and camera. Big hassle. Sometimes even this doesn't work, and I need to borrow my wife's chip reader to do my download to her apple. The instructions to the Canon photo editing software make it vague to the point of unusability. "Darkroom" and "Gwen view" to the rescue! I also use software I've developed that utilizes imagemagik to bulk process photos. If the Canon software does this, I haven't figured it out yet. Some of the features of the camera are complex. One needs to read the 600+ page manual a few times to start to figure out how to use it. The leica had only 5 controls, but I'll never use all the controls built into this camera.

I am new to the world of professional photography and was stepping up to a new camera. Although happy with my Canon EOS Rebel T1i I wanted to move to full frame body. I compared features and felt that the Canon EOS 6D was an amazing camera. Especially for the price. Although the Canon 5D Mk III has some additional features that would be nice, at this point in my photography career the Canon 6D has all the features I need for half the price. Additionally it has features that the 5D MkIII does not have. It has GPS and WiFi built in. A nice touch. I have had the camera for several weeks now and I am very satisfied with my choice.

This is the greatest camera I've ever owned! I'm 63 yrs old. I still have my old, original Canon F1 I bought in Japan in the 70s. I've had many cameras, and a number of Canon digital cameras. I have a 2yr degree in photography. And.....I LOVE this camera. It does everything I want and more. The photos from it are stunning. The colors and resolution are outstanding. This is my first full frame digital and I could not be more impressed. I might even prefer this to the 5D for ergonomic reasons. The build quality is extremely high. I bought mine refurbished from the Canon web site and have been very impressed. It looked brand new. It could have been sold for brand new. Thanks Canon!

I purchased the 6d to take a photography class in college. I am more than happy with it. The images when adjusted with the correct exposure and focus are professional magazine front cover quality (of course several other factors go into taking a photo not just focus and exposure). It is extremely durable and solid. I love the wifi capability. If you own a iPhone or newer generation iPod the EOS app works great with the 6d. It makes it super fast to download the set of images or select only the best images and have them ready to be post processed or shared in no time. The body will work with the full line of EOS lenses so the only thing I would recommend to a person interested in buying any new SLR camera is to understand the type of photography you would be doing the majority of the time and buy the best EOS lens for the job at hand. I only say that because I find myself doing a lot of macro photography and the 24-105mm lens that comes with the 6d is decent for macro but not phenomenal. Know the limits of your lens and start building your lens kits to fit your needs best. I have taken over 4,000 photos so far on my 6d and I love it, cant seem to put it down. Great job Canon.

Love it. Great camera at a great price. I've always used prosumer cameras for my work. This is by far the best prosumer camera you can buy for the money. All the features minus the cost.

I purchased this camera primarily for hiking in the back-country wilderness. I wanted something light, weather sealed, and full framed for landscapes. Fast action shots are not an issue for me so the complaints about the AF system were not a concern. For the few times that I have had to use the AF system, it performed exceptionally well though. The menu system, combined with the custom shooting modes make this camera a joy to use! All the settings you need can be setup within one custom menu and can be adjusted quickly if necessary. Customizing this camera for your particular style of shooting is a good as it gets. The built in GPS is a really nice feature, and works very well. Would be hard for me to own another camera without GPS now. Overall, this is simply a great camera!

I own two of these and I have nothing but good things to say about the 6D. I think it is the best deal in a full frame camera. I would highly recommend it.

I moved up from a 5d and a 7d to the 6d. Just took it on vacation and the first 1000 shots look great. very impressed by the high iso shots. There was no problem with the focus, no real action shots yet. The colors look very good, I shoot raw with small jpg. The auto color balance is much improved. I was also very impressed with the scene select, especially landscape, was quite impressed. I do not shoot a lot of video but did try it out on my dogs running around and it was very good, I would recommend the external mic though. Overall very happy with it so far. Will shoot the first wedding latter this month for the real trial.m

Bought this body as my first camera going into photography. It is simple to use, easy to figure out, and just all around feels great! I've read reviews where people aren't too fond of the 11-point AF, but I think it works amazingly! Mainly I've focused on shooting portraits and this camera has gotten some wicked shots, I love my 6D!
