The product is excellent. The only complaint that I have is the way that the camera was packed. There was no styrofoam packing peanuts surrounding the camera box to protect it when being shipped. The camera could have gotten damaged, but luckily, it didn't.

They could have extended the View finder so your face is not directly against the camera, smudging the LCD.

First off I would like to reply to the first person to leave a review, "By ElGordo" The say: Quote: "It is still a very small camera. Even people with normal sized hands will have trouble. I can only fit 2 fingers on the grip for this. The battery grip is highly recommended" Nothing personal, but I TOTALLY DISAGREE!!! This is certainly NOT a very small camera, and I am a normal female with normal size hands and have no problem whatsoever with handling this camera, neither does by husband whose hands are of course bigger than mine! I wouldn't recommend the battery grip at all, and have never even thought about it. The battery life is unreal! It lasts for months! I use my camera almost everyday and have taken over six or seven HUNDRED pictures all with one battery use. It takes excellent pictures and the image stabilizer is great, but not so great in extremely low light and I'm talking extremely low light, although it takes great pictures, you would want to use a tripod say in super low candlelight. The zoom only extends so far, so you will want to somewhere down the line consider a nice zoom lens in addition. Although I didn't purchase the camera here, I believe all the lens that come standard with the camera are all the same. The lens that came with it is great!!! It is also a great camera for beginners. I opened up the box, and it was just like a point and shoot. The first picture I ever took was the crepe myrtle (see below) and it came out gorgeous. I have no complaints about this camera at all! I LOVE it! I've had it almost a year and I have never regrettted it.

I upgraded from a Kodak EasyShare DX7630, and this new camera is awesome! I haven't used it much yet, the users manual is big and this camera has a lot of functions that I haven't use many of them yet. The continuous shooting works great, I was able to catch some lightning shoots as a storm rolled by. The picture quality is great.

Researched this camera for quite a while before buying. It sure stands up to the hype. Simple and easy to use. Photos are really crisp and true to life. Easiest manuel I have ever read and simple to understand. The battery life is second to none. This is the last camera I'll probably ever buy. Great deal for the money.

An excellent value, especially for introducing one to the world of digital single-reflex cameras (DSLR). The 18-55 kit lens is a great walkaround, but anyone serious about photography should acquire a 70-200 f/2.8 to compliment this great camera. The Rebel is a 1.6x crop censor camera, meaning it is NOT a full frame like a 5D. However, this is fine for 90% of people. Picture quality is excellent, and I often use the auto-exposure bracketing to create high dynamic range (HDR) images. The only downside is what some other posters have mentioned, in that the camera will occasionally freak out and go into "busy" mode for several seconds. It has done it to me in broad daylight, but that was when I was doing 30 second exposures. Speaking of, as a tip to get better pictures, NEVER NEVER NEVER use flash, especially the one on the camera. Invest in a decent tripod and set longer exposures if you must: the pictues will have colors exponentially superior to those washed out with flash. Overall, great camera. Had it for over a year and taken around 10,000 pictures...it's yet to let me down.

The newest version in the Rebel line, the XSi is a seriously beautiful machine. Not to be confused with the XS (no "i") which is the smaller less functional version of this. This is the upgrade to the 400d Xti Aesthetics: It is still a very small camera. Even people with normal sized hands will have trouble. I can only fit 2 fingers on the grip for this. The battery grip is highly recommended. Note, however, the battery and grips from previous Rebels are not compatible with this. The camerea uses the newer Canon battery which offers about 30% more power. Which is important when you consider the: Tech: This offers Canon's Live View which allows you to use the screen on the back instead of the eyepiece. This is wonderfuly useful when you are taking shots on a tripod, or at an akward angle. It is not very useful for taking normal shots, as once you get the battery grip on there, your good lens and a flash, you're trying to hold 10 lbs in mid-air a foot in front of your face. The camera also has a whopping 12 megapixels squeezed onto the sensor. Maybe too much. However, the camera uses the New Digic III precessor and has advanced algorithms for reducing pixelation especially in higher ISO. The practical upshot of this is the camera lets you take bigger and better shots, in lower light, with better quality. The Lens: This lens ain't great. Wal-Mart doesn't specify, but the other places that have sold this offer it wtih the slightly upgraded version with Image Stabilization. While this works better than the old lens that came with the other Rebels, it is still not terribly sharp. Plan on buying better lenses

Quality Photos and Creative Control

After much research, I decided to choose this camera over the XS--for one thing, two extra AF meterings would give a better focusing range. Cosmetically, the XSi has a textured grip on the body itself--whereas the XS does not. The 12.2 megapixels is a wonderful asset to have--especially if you work with and crop and edit your photos. I've been able to crop portions of pictures I've taken and still end up with clear and resolute results. Regardless of the differences, picture quality is outstanding out of the box. There's always the stigma that there is a learning curve to DSLR cameras, but with the auto settings, one can easily achieve basic level photographs that look fantastic without having to do much work to get them. However, when you are wanting to learn and grow more in your skills, there are the manual and creative settings you can tweak and play with to achieve all kinds of different effects. I've had this camera for a couple weeks now, and have taken several hundreds of shots; and I still can't put it down. I love it! And there's always room to enhance it in the future with new and different lenses!
