I needed an inexpensive printer for my notebook. Since I own another Canon attached to the big PC and it's been a good one, no problems, I bought another one for my notebook. Sometimes I forget to turn it off, but it just keeps going and going when I need it.
I HAD MANY PRINTERS BEINGS THAT IT WAS OFTEN CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW PRINTER THAN ONE INK CART. THATS ONE OF THE THINGS I LOVE MOST ABOUT THIS PRINTER IS THAT THE INK IS VERY AFFORDABLE. THIS PRINTER ALSO WORKS EXCELLENT. I HAVE HAD MINE FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS AND IT'S STILL WORKING FINE. MY SISTER BOUGHT ONE TOO AND SHE LOVES HERS AS WELL. THANKS CANON!
I've been very happy with my Canon iP2000 for 4 years. I didn't realize I'd been using it for so long until it needed to be "repaired". Unfortunately, this isn't an option. I'm still using my Windows 98 program and most printers out there don't accomodate an older system. My iP2000 worked great! It would print my documents and pictures with great color and clarity. *sigh* I'm missing it so much.
Ok, so if you use linux you always want to make sure that you can use your printer. The good thing is that most distros ship with the drivers. I also have a MP150 which also works with linux. I would say that the IP2000 is a very good entry level printer; best of all its a canon.
