I love this shower rod. I had no trouble putting it up. It was also easy to get the spring mount loose. The other reviews said it was super hard to open and put up. It is very sturdy I can even hang a wet towel on it to dry.
I was unable to get away during day because of work, so all I did was order online and they had it waiting for me when I got off work! It's great product, just different from the older ones, a little difficult to figure out how to tighten it.
Great for the price. Installs in minutes. Make sure to read the directions. You have to twist the very end to tighten.
Just follow the easy directions printed inside the label (one must carefully peel the label from the rod and read underneath for the very easy step-by-step instructions); it works as suggested by those directions, and ONE person can easily, very easily, install this within less than a minute--I did. If you do not take the time to read the simple directions, it might not make sense to you, and that might be the problem that one other person complained about; did you read the simple and adequate instructions?
I like my shower rods tight (as if they were permanent). The installation process for a single person is much longer than the seconds indicated on the instructions. First thing you should do is loosen both end pieces, it would actually be beneficial to have two people do this install. Once the ends are loose position the rod extend it then lock it by twisting the two halves in opposite directions. Here's where you need the 2nd person, start tightening the end pieces alternating ends so the 'gaps' will be even. It will take the 2nd person to hold the opposite end in place while you are tighting the other end. Looks good when it's done, but a pain for one person.
Do not buy with the "new easy hang instructions". They have redeisgned these with a locking mechanism that does not work. Even the slighttest pressure will cause the grip to fail. We took it back three times for a replacement and they weren't defective-just a terrible design. JUNK!!!!
The rubber padding is so hard that it doesn't stick to the tile or textured wall. It won't stay up on any surface! I thought I had a good deal bc at BB&B it 25 with coupon for the same look. The only difference is that THEIR padding actually allows the rod to stay up. I may have to spend the extra money for it to WORK!!
The new "easy to install" tension rods are awful! I followed the directions, and after 30 minutes finally got it tight enough to stay in place. I then tossed two bath towels over the rod to dry and it came crashing down. So I repeated the install, same result. I thought I might have purchased a defective rod, so I returned it to the store and exchanged it for another. Same problems. While the rod itself looks nice it is virtually impossible to keep hanging up. I am back to installing it nearly every other time someone takes a shower at my house. I had an older Canopy model curtain rod for years, that was installed using the older method and it worked great. This new thing is a piece of junk.
What happened to the good old-fashioned tension rods that turn one direction to tighten, and the opposite direction to expand the rod? I have purchased 3 different rods (different manufacturers) from various sources. None of them work. Seems like this new "technology" comes from overseas - and does not work. Will be returning.
As easy as it appears to be, and should be, this is not easy to install. I purchased ours at Walmart in June, 2015. In the 3 1/2 months its been up, it's had to be adjusted several times because it slipped and got loose. About an hour after showering this morning, I heard a loud thunk, and there it was: rod, curtain and liner on the ground. I spent ten minutes trying to get it back up and it would not grip, no matter what I did. I've bought shower curtain rods for 40 years since establishing my own home. . . never had a single problem with the old fashioned, easy to install tension rod. This is just junk. Will never waste my money on another one.
