I really like my Carex rollator A22300 ... my walker really comes in handy while I'm doing my rehab. walks. I had a model A22200 but it was to low for my height and using it made my lower back very sore. The woman in customer service at Walmart store in Harrisburg Pa. was most helpful in helping me order my new model.
My family and I purchased this as a birthday present for my 84 year old mother. It needed to be light weight, easy to use, durable and reliable. This one filled all the requirements at a very competitive price. It was easy and quick to assemble without tools. Several heights to choose from, hand brakes with comfortable grips and a padded bar to use as a backrest made it easy to customize for her. It folds simply and quickly to transport, but when it is open it is very sturdy. The seat is a storage container complete with a velcro sealed pouch for ID, money or other valuables and a stationary strap in the bottom to secure items. This leaves hands free for operation during use. Large wheels roll freely and maneuver easily. The braking system works very well and has a locking feature to use during standing or sitting to ensure no runaway accidents. My mother is under five feet tall and not extremely strong, but she can use this to enjoy outings where she would normally tire easily from having to walk long distances or from having to be on her feet for extended periods of time.
Got this for my 87yr old mom. Wasn't sure how she was going to like it, being the first one. She loves it! It gives her so much more mobility. Was very easy to put together. Moves easily & smoothly. Sturdy. Uses it to take her coffee to the living room even.
I had done research on several Rollators before I purchased this one. The price of a Rollator can be as much as 180 dollars. Carex is not considered top of the line nor are their products at the bottom or poor quality. I read past reviews of this and other Carex products. I am glad Walmart sells their products. The Rollator holds my mother nicely and the seat was easy to adjust. I put together the Rollator in 20 minutes. The direction are fine not outstanding but pictures say a thousand words.
I bought this particular rollator (walker) because it is adjustable for height. My mother is elderly and she is only 5' tall. So, we needed something that would accommodate her small stature. However, if we ever need it for my father who is 6', it will also accommodate him. It is sturdy and has good brakes. My husband assembled it and said it was not easy simply because you have to go by pictures and there was no written instructions. Other than that, I would recommend this rollator.
We purchased this Carex Rollator for my 89 year old Dad since he has fallen down twice in the past month from losing his balance. He was reluctant when I suggested we buy a walker for him, and I knew we needed to get one with brakes and a seat rather than the plain cheap aluminum walker. To my amazement he really loves this rollator and now has his confidence back when walking. We take it with us almost everywhere we go and he loves going to the large indoor mall and spending the afternoon there walking around and resting on the seat when he gets tired of walking. We had gone to a medical supply store and looked at several other rollator models that were much more expensive; priced from $225 to over $300. This carex rollator exceeded the quality and ease of operation of several of the higher priced units. The assembly was easy, took only about 15 minutes and no tools needed. The size is right and we especially liked the fact that it is so lightweight and fully adjustable for handle and seat height. It was a little difficult to keep folded up while loading into the trunk until we got used to it. Just make sure the brake cables are out of the way when folding it up and unfolding it!
WE BOUGHT THIS WALKER FOR OUR TRIP TO DISNEY WORLD. IT WORKED OUT GREAT. THE ONY PROBLEM IS THAT IT NEEDS SOME KIND OF LATCH TO HOLD IT CLOSED. WE HAD TROUBLE KEEPING IT FOLDED IN THE CAR AND WHEN WE HAD TO RIDE THE TRAM. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS THE BEST PURCHASE WE HAVE EVER MADE. IT HELD UP GREAT WHEN IN USE WALKING AROUND DISNEY WORLD. WHEN WE GOT TIRED WE COULD JUST SIT DOWN AND NOT WORRY ABOUT LOOKING FOR A BENCH AND WHEN THE GRANDCHILDREN GOT TIRED WE LET THEM SIT AND WE PUSHED THEM. THAT HELPED US BOTH. PLEASE TELL THE MANIFAACTURER THAT THEY NEED TO DEVISE A LATCH TO HOLD THE WALKER TOGETHER WHEN IT IS FOLDED.
The Carex Step n' Rest appears well constructed and is great for moderate duty. The adjustability of both the seat and handle heights are desirable features. Its rather light weight and folding are good for transporting. The walker was very well packaged and the preassembled wheels and brakes were appreciated. For assembly, written instructions would have been preferred to the pictorial ones. Upon assembly In one position, it was found the holes did not line up and would have required some enlargement with a metal file. After assembly, one must partially disassemble to adjust heights of seat and handles. This walker is recommended.
I bought for my mother who just had a hip fracture. Easy to assemble about 15-30 mins. Easy for an elderly person to operate, light enough to move over small steps. Simple operation, the brakes come pre-adjusted so no adjustments necessary. All your doing is tightening up all the connections. On thick carpet will need to be careful, but on solid floors brakes work well. Comes with a handy compartment for small items however does not lock, so have to be careful when lifting to put in vehicle or remember to take everything out; may want to add some kind of latch if it will be moved around a lot. It falls open when tilted so if you leave things in the compartment all the stuff will fall out as it automatically opens opens up when tilted. The walker does fold in when transporting which makes it easier.
Mom wanted one with smaller wheels to reduce tripping over them so we decided to try this with 6 inch wheels. It is hard to see the holes and get all four legs matched to insert the clips and handles to hold to the correct height. There are 3 choices. One front wheel has a persistent squeal which oil did not eliminate completely. One hand-brake handle dangles rather than fitting tightly and the screws are completely tightened. The seat is very flimsy and the back rest pops off too easily, so don't lean against it. It is hard to grasp the rod through the cloth basket and hold it all together while putting into vehicle trunk. I'm not sure if it is the brand or if they are all this poorly made in this price range.
