I purchased this lift for my mom. It works perfectly and it helps take pressure off her shoulders when trying to stand. She suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and the simple task of standing is a daily struggle. I recommend this product with caution to adjust the tension so your love one doesn't get raised too fast. Trial and error.
I bought for my 95 yr old father weighing 265 at 6'2. Old thighs don't work as well. As long as he holds on to something to stabilize self when getting up, it assists great. I disliked the beginning setup. It was difficult getting the setup fixed to enable the seat to work as a pressure sensor to assist getting up. But not impossible at all. My daughter helped, she's 37 am very strong. Plus she was the test dummy to check out the workings. Make sure u set the seat for the actual weight of person that's going to use it! Very useful when perhaps arm handles not available. Plus the seat adds a couple inches to seat their sitting in so that their hips are now close to level of their knees instead of lower. Therefore they don't have to overcome so much gravity to get out of chair!
if you are looking for a device to help someone who is having issue being able to stand yhis is a lifesaver! Myom can't get up without assistance and this allows her to at least have a little bit of freedom to be able to get put of a chair without straining
It works great! The one problem my father-in-law complained about was it was a too firm for him. I did make a memory foam topper for it and he is using it more frequently!
It's good I tried on myself but my mother weight 120 lbs and she can't put it down when she seats. I will have to return it. On the description it says weight capacity of 95lbs to 340lbs. This model is for people 200lbs and up.
Levers me up and down slowly. Don't be afraid to warp the seat per the instructions. Needs to be done to lock in weight settings. Sure beats a $1,000.00 upholstered sit up chair. If you lean forward for any reason it will think you want to get up and it starts raising you ready or not.
This has to be used on a hard, flat chair with arms. I can get up myself if a chair has arms.
Thought this sounded like a great idea for my elderly mom who has trouble with her 90 year old knees. The seat is comfortable to sit in, but it does not assist you in getting up. Basically, you stand up and the seat follows you. I returned this item since it did absolutely nothing to help "lift".
This item did not work at all for my situation. An ill or fragile person could not use this because they would not have enough strength. It has very tight tension, very hard to push down, even with my weight of 240 lbs. I am afraid that I would end up hurting myself even further trying to use this SEATASSIST. I will definitely need to return it and get a refund. I ordered it because I have a bad left knee and a deformed right foot. Both cause lots of pain so I needed something to help me get out of my chair easier, short of having to purchase an electric lift chair. I'm not sure that I would recommend this item for anyone at all.
This item did not work for me. It sat too high up on the sofa and I was unable to safely get onto the seat. It may work well for a taller person.
