Keeps my big dog out and allows my cat and small dog in or out.
Was a bit concerned with the gap, inspite of the documentation assuring me it would work. Well, they were right and it works great! Much better than the baby gate we were using. LOL Do wish the "small" cat door was smaller. I have big cats, but not that big and a small dog that loves cat food. So will take the advice of others and cut one of the cat door bars out. Then it will be kitty size. :) Came with an extension, and thought the wide door would use it, but didn't need it.
It feel strong and after kicking it, accidentally, of course< it is still holding tight. The latch takes some getting used to but that is the point. If it were easy it wouldn't be a secure gate. My only complaint, and it isn't much of one, is that since it comes with extra pieces to fit various width doors and the bracing screws adjust for the same reason, it becomes a bit of a challenge to choose the best combination of gate pieces and brace extension. We have old doors in a very old house so nothing is a standard size. if you have the same issue, you may find yourself switch pieces in and out for a few minutes before you find the right combination. This flexibility is actually a great feature and the primary reason we bought this, but it does mean that it will not go directly from the box into the doorway.
Nice looking sturdy gate that is easy to open and close. No need to step over it remove to pass through any longer. For functions smoothly and can be set to not open one way or the other. Plenty of viewing space for animals to see through.
This hate is easy to install and great for my cats to get in and out! The gate fits in with my other that is a different brand so it can extend further!
Since my beagle has figured out how to climb some gates, the only way to go was with one that had just vertical slats. I bought this gate for the laundry room door, so the kitties would still have access to their litter box by using the small door. The pluses: very easy to assemble, and very easy for cats to learn to use. The sort-of-negative: make sure your dog is bigger than the small door! I thought for sure an almost 30 lb beagle wouldn't fit through an 8" opening, but I was wrong!
I like that it held up to our Aussie getting through the cat door! She had to be taught she is not allowed to do so. Now she is too big to fit.
I searched for weeks trying to find a gate that would fit a 28” opening. This one is designed for 29” and larger. But I figured I buy it and give it a try I was desperate. Have a dog who likes to eat from the litter box eww. When I got it all together I found all the tension screws would adjust all the way in but one the frame by the latch won't allow this one to adjust all the way in the bolt length is longer than the frame length in this area. Hence the 29” being the minimum adjustment size. I just took a set of bolt cutters and took some length off the bolt then it adjusted all the way in. This allowed me to put the gate up in a 28” door frame. I've circled where I cut the tension both shorter
Obviously cheaply made. one of the frames was welded wrong so my boyfriend had to take it to work and re-weld it other than that they are what you except for gates this price. My 4 month old 20 pound husky can still fit through the cat door but luckily our cats can fit through the sides. (picture of dog for size reference)
Came apart after 2 weeks of use. Cheaply made, looks like small amount of epoxy holding it together when it should have been soldered. First picture is where joint came apart and second one is another joint with a small dot holding it together. Not going to hold up long term. Very disappointed in this brand, I have some of their other gates and they were very well made.
