The installation was pretty easy and straightforward, i did it myself in a couple hours. They look great and feel solid. I did increase the size of the sheet metal screws just to make sure I got enough bite. The holes in the brackets were plenty large.
I bought a 2012 F-150 XL and needed some help to get in the truck. This step fit the bill. There is a crossmember under the door that this fits in between. I had to make a cardboard template for the holes as no template is provided. The rest of the installation was easy and the step looks nice.
Very solid and good looking steps, not the quickest install (at least on my 2002 Duramax) but easily doable. My order was messed up and I only got half of my order. Called customer service and they expedited the rest of my order to ship that day so all is good.
They make it so easy for my wife to get in the truck. This is the second pair as I added to rear door as well. Also makes it easy to get under the truck for any maintenance. I made a template to locate and drill the pilot holes, clamped it on and drilled. Made the installation much faster.
I bought these for my son for Christmas. He has had them installed for less than 6 months. They were pretty easy to put on and seem sturdy enough. My only issue is the black is coming off. I maybe would have gone with the silver instead because these will look crappy in no time.
Simple to install but I had a hoist to lift up my pick-up. could see it being more challenging if you had to lay on the ground to install. Look nice. Would have given a 5/5 if there was a brace that would go to the frame for more support. I have only had my steps on 1 week and am curious how well they will hold up to a 280 pound guy climbing on them every day, year after year.
Had Carr steps on my 1993 Toyota and liked them.Went with tube steps on my 2001 Tacoma and they rusted after7 to 8 years ,while the Carr steps were like new after 7 years. These look great on my truck.I expect these steps to last the lifetime of my 2013 truck.
My regular mechanic would not put it on. perhaps because he wanted to sell a full size running board or tubular. It is not as sturdy as I expected and I had to put it on myself. I was disappointed that the instructions were not specific for the Silverado that I expected.
Install directions are very general. 2009 Std Cab F150 XL there is but one place that the steps will fit and be usable due to locations of the body support brackets. The sheet metal screws provided wrung off far too easily creating a problem. Ended up drilling and tapping for a bolt.
While the quality of the parts is excellent the application and installation falls short. The instructions do not match the initially. And if installed as shown they would be weak and cause problems. Additionally they are too far back under the rocker to be used when exiting the vehicle. I only installed One on my 2017 Ram Promaster and will not waste time on the second.
