This works as well as the more expensive products, so I tend to buy it because the price per unit is pretty good.
I have used other dishwasher detergent and found that they did not compare to Cascade, so I quickly went back to using the one and only detergent to use, Cascade.
I've been buying the lavender and the dragon fruit scent for about a year and I love them both. No problems with a left-behind film or over-powering scent. I've recommended them to several friends and so far no one is coming after me. As long as they keep working so well for me, I will keep using them.
Cascade is a very good dishwasher soap but a little expensive.
It has gotten to the point that this scent repels me. When I wash any plastic containers the scent is on it (in it?) and won't wash out. My coffee lid has the scent after one washing. Water bottles smell like the detergent. The inside of my dishwasher smells like it. I want my dishes to smell clean, not scented. I have 2/3 of a 110 action PAC container left and I may be throwing them out...what a waste in this economy.
My wife is a devoted customer of Cascade but she refuses to use the scented Action Pacs. I bought a huge container (110) and she won't use them due to the residual scent / taste remaining on our cups and plates. She has an acute sense of smell and taste. I have had success in puncturing and draining the purple lavender liquid and using the Action Pac to wash the dishes. It still washes great like the unscented variety and it doesn't offend my wife's senses. If you don't like the scented variety Action Pacs - puncture and drain the liquid scent - still use the detergent because it works very well.
I have read other reviewers saying that it left their plastic dishes smelling horrible. While it did that for us, it left EVERYTHING smelling and tasting horrible. I wouldn't expect something so bad from Cascade, but I actually went out and bought the "Fresh Scent" pack just so that I didn't have to wash do another load with these.
I bought this on sale. Left dishes with a whitee film. Would not buy again. Pay more for platinum cascade
My husband purchased a large quantity of this item at a local store specializing in large packaging. Unfortunately after the first use, I realized he made a mistake. The lavender scent might be pleasing in a bathroom or bedroom, but it does not belong in the dishwasher. As we pulled our clean dishes and glassware out of the dishwasher we discovered that the lavender scent was overwhelming and remained on the dishes. Our plastic travel mugs we not usable because they retained the scent and my tea tasted like a lavender sachet. Unfortunately we spent a significant amount of money on a product that is unusable.
My glasses have been smelling strongly for weeks. I thought there was something wrong with my water. I complained to my wife about it multiple times. I finally figured it was the dishwashing detergent and looked at the detergent pacs in the tin we use (from another brand) and told my wife to back to using Cascade. She said it WAS Cascade and she was just using the old tin because it was convenient. I noted the pink rather than orange color and she said it was scented (Thai Dragon Fruit) . I can't stress strongly enough that the odor from these pacs is extremey unpleasant (at least to me). Needless to say we're going back to the unscented ones.
