I had an old Casio keyboard that I bought at a thrift store for many years. Finally was able to upgrade. This keyboard has everything I wanted and more. I am enjoying it very much. I would recommend this to everyone who wants a mid price keyboard. You get a lot for your money.
You can't get more functions & features on any other keyboard/instrument for this price. Remarkable, & well worth it. Most of the presets are old fashioned hotel lobby band sounding, but they are tweak-able, & you can create your own presets. It's easy to use for the semi-pro or beginner. It has sound sampling to, to add your own sounds & voices, to play just like another preset. The rhythm section & percussion settings also has a lot of presets -- most of them are old-style lobby-act sounding too, but there are a few good ones. You can also program your own rhythm section too. The USB cord interface in an old late 1990s style interface, & must be purchased separately. But they're cheap & easily available. It's pretty much useless though because you have to get free, or purchased third party software to do anything with a computer with it. You can download some free software from Casio for it, but that software is pretty much useless for the average user. You can't just take your midi files on a computer & get them to run on the keyboard or modify them with it either. It can only be done with a lot of extra software & some serious computer engineering. You'd think they'd include a disc with some software that would actually be useful to an average user. But I can't complain much for the price. You get a great keyboard loaded with lots of cool features, good for a pro or beginner. Nothing else comes close in this price range. It sounds great too... even through it's built in speakers. The AA batteries last me all day in it. I don't know how long they'd last until they were fully drained though. I used rechargeable batteries, so just put them in the charger at the end of the day. I played at a moderate volume, not real loud. I would imagine playing loudly would drain the batteries faster because it requires more power to play loud. The input for plugging a player into it, or sampling is mono. -- something I wouldn't have expected since 1965. I knocked off 1 star because of 1990s style interfaces, & not very PC friendly or easy, even with tons of software. Also too many old style lobby-act presets. We're not a 1980 lobby jazz band anymore. But if you want the most keyboard & bang for the buck. this is it.
This is a great keyboard. I've been using electronic keyboards for my music production for 12 years and this is a great value with all of the features that are included. The sampling feature lets you sample up to 5 different sounds or music clips. The keys feel good, and with the Midi hookup via the USB connection I'm able to access my 5000+ virtual synths/sounds in my laptop. Just wish it came in black but the silver is ok. And I also wish it had an SD slot to save more samples, but it's still a great deal. You can't go wrong with the 600 tones and 100+ rhythms!
