I owned this kind of watch before and I really liked it. It's great for amateur astronomers to follow the phases of the moon, or for those who like to fish, keep track of the tides. Overall quality of Casio products is excellent. Excellent display on the face of the watch, you can also follow with world time. I'd recommend this product to others.
Bought this watch for the tidal feature, living close to the sea you need to know this. Setting the lunitidal setting is easy with the correct information, such as lunar meridian passing, and time to next high tide in your locale, this info is easily obtained on many weather web sites, so counting the time difference is childs play, set your longitude and you got your tides. The NOAA web site is the best place for this information, but plenty of other weather sites supply it. So not being able to correctly set the tide feature isnt the watch fault. I think the added bearing mode is a plus for this watch, but it requires some basic knowledge to set and use correctly. Over all this watch is for the money a great value for people that can understand its functions. Only surpassed by the Casio pathfinder series, but they are in the hundreds of dollar range.
I purchased this watch to replace an original G-Shock I had for over 20 years. My primary objective was a watch I could wear to the pool. I was surprised to find one in silver with a metal band at this price - its a bit more professional looking than the G-Shock. Setting the time and location (important for the moon and tide feature) was easy enough to do without referring to the manual (OK, I'm a guy, so that was important)! The one caveat is the band is difficult to adjust. I like the solar feature and discussing the tide and moon changes with the kids. Overall, a good value.
After a couple of adjustments to the band and setting the time and time zone, the watch has the necessary features that I want. After having to go to Batterys Plus and having batteries replaced, I have decided to go solar where possible. Casio makes a good watch, better than Timex. Value, style, function.
Bought it as an inexpensive waterproof watch for scuba diving purposes. The tides function is not of much use unless you live in one of the major cities in it's data bank. If you really need to know the tides in your area in any detail you better look elsewhere. I say this from a mariners perspective so if it's just for kicks for you then it works fine. For what I wanted, which was to time my dives, it works good for my beginner needs. The owners manual specifically says not to use it for scuba diving but that skin diving and snorkeling are fine applications. My guess is they do not want to assume any liability with a relatively inexpensive product such as this. It is working for me and serving my purpose, so I am not complaining.
Watch keeps good time and is a good everyday watch; however, band is difficult to adjust AND, if high tide time is not reset every three to four days, it is way off (gets behind twelve to fifteen minutes every day).
Very pleased with the watch. It is very difficult to shorten the band, you better have a very, very small screwdriver(did I say small screwdriver)?
I like my green watch
more than I expected
Perhaps there was a problem with the solar battery system. It was shipped to store so it had not seen daylight for quite a few days. I left it inthe sun for a full day, but it never powered up.
