Our old Alesis keyboard finally died, and I had to replace it for our son taking piano lessons. Velocity-sensitive keys are a MUST for a piano-like experience, and this Casio came in with 76 keys and a reasonable price point. We had the old Alesis (no speakers) hooked up to a 2.1 computer speaker system, which resulted in an unsightly tangle of wires in our front reading room. The Casio's built-in speakers sounded surprisingly rich and substantial, which let us ditch the external speaker setup. We can always hook them back up for a bigger sound. The built-in sounds are fantastic, and the new keyboard gives us some good backing and rhythm options that we didn't have before without connecting a MIDI workstation. We still have that option (through USB) PLUS all the built-in goodies. Very pleased with this purchase!
