I purchased this for my six year old because he is on a Superhero kick and I grew up this show. I was his age when the Legion of Doom episodes first aired in '78. I bought it because some of the superhero cartoons now aren't appropriate in content for a 6 year old. This classic Superfriends is on a more simplistic level and wholesome in conduct for a six year old. We recently rented a Superhero cartoon for my son and I watched it first...boy was I glad I did. It contained graphic decaptitations and a HUMAN SACRIFICE...in a cartoon!!! Superfriends is everything I remembered growing up- clean, fun, good vs evil with good triumphing. And I enjoyed seeing the old episodes again myself. :)
I adore the SuperFriends and recently acquired the entire series. This volume, Challenge of the Superfriends Season 1 is actually just the first half hour of the original one hour episodes which featured the Legion of Doom vs. The Justice League. It does not include the second half hour of each episode, which went back to the previous season's format using the original 5 JL members and the Wonder Twins. Those episodes can be found on Super Friends Season 2 in a blue package with similar artwork. And Challenge is actually the 3rd season of the Super Friends series as a whole. Unfortunately, the first disc had a glitch and wouldn't play more than the first three episodes. The other disc worked fine though and the special features were pretty fun. There was no visible damage to the disc so I assume it was a coding glitch and plan to return/exchange mine.
