I crack the largest, most dried out logs with this monster and it barely strains Maintaining the gas motor is easy with drain and fill locations. Highway legal tires are great for taking it to other locations, and the filter for the hydraulic system is easily accessable.
I cut a lot of firewood in the summer and fall and burn for around 6 months in late fall through early spring. Having this wood splitter has been a godsend for me. It is durable, fires up every time, built solid and will split through even the meanest rounds with lots of knots. I am very happy with my 37 ton Champion log splitter. I would recommend this splitter to anyone looking to buy one. You can't go wrong with a Champion!
So far so good. Only had it for a week and haven't really used it. Seems to be built well. I want to see a manual throttle control lever be added, as to prolong engine longevity. Because this thing doesn't idle, as soon as you start it it's on full throttle, which is terrible for the engine and fuel economy. I will say, using the fuel shut off switch instead of the kill switch will also be easier on the engine. I appreciated the fact that it came with all the fluids accept the fuel. They also idiot proofed it because they give you the exact amount so you can't over or under fill it. Should also put on some actually highway wheels so I can safely tow it at highway speeds.
I purchased this log splitter for my business. I run a lot of veneer wood and it leaves a lot of bigger cores that I can't throw in my boiler. This helps me split them up!
assembly was fair to midlin. most time spent on 1 motor mount bolt (took almost an hour). this needs to be addressed. machine works great ..it truely is a beast would recommend this to a friend and I would surely buy again.. BUT I HOPE I DONT HAVE TO. THANKS
Delivered on a pallet, very well packaged. Assembly was straightforward though I did need help as some of the parts are quite heavy. Added fluids and it started right up. Made short work of every log I had for it. Recommend ear plugs, it does get a little noisy. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend it!
Bought the 37 ton after using a friend's 27 ton and you can feel the difference immediately. Using this on 12+ acres of land, tons of dead ash, silver maple, and more. Recommended!
Had a lot of big rounds to split. No way I was going to use a Splitting Maul. Bought the 37-ton log splitter. It is so impressive and easy to use. I highly recommend it. I wish I had bought one years ago after using it.
After a few years of using rental equipment, this splitter is a dream come true, and after more than a season of heavy use, it is doing its job admirably. I split lots of heavy maple, and this splitter goes through even the monster logs and burl without complaint. Even after a season of use and starting from cold, this engine never takes more than two pulls. Somehow Champion has figured out the formula for an easy-starting engine, which I've never experienced on splitters I've rented or borrowed. Setup was easy and instructions were clear. Good to have all the fluids come with it. Oil change is simple if you have a nice long funnel. I recommend the kind with a flexible snake-type or clear plastic tubing. When my recoil starter spring failed, customer service sent me a new assembly instantly, no questions asked. Excellent service, and they knew where to ship based on my serial number and registration info, so I didn't have to repeat myself. I do have a couple issues that cause me to knock off a star. This unit is very heavy, and the flip-down stand is not adequate, especially if you are in tight spaces with bumpier ground. To make matters worse, the hitch mechanism is bulky and difficult to use while trying to maneuver the machine and its troublesome stand when you need to hitch to your vehicle (most often an ATV in my case). You have to hold up the heavy splitter and the hitch mechanism handle at the same time. A couple times doing this, and my back was very unhappy with me. Champion team, please chalk this up as a request for a crank-handle jack and a lower profile hitch mechanism. I found aftermarket replacements for both, which cost me some money. Looking forward to many more seasons with this splitter.
Assembly was easy. It is too heavy for us to move without assistance. When we tried to hookup to the tow ball the clamping piece would not work. Looks like a defective mechanism.
