I cancelled Cox cable a couple of months ago and bought Roku which is awesome, than I was looking for a digital converter for my sister and some of reviewers said that you don't need it if you have a newer TV and a good antenna.. than I ordered this for me and voila! I have about 40 channels HDTV.. Couldn't be happier, it's so easy to set up. I connected it to a main coaxial cable that Cox left (another tip from a reviewer) and now we have HDTV on all tv's in our house (6 in all). I'm loving it, and it's FREE!! I hate how cable companies make you believe that you have to have their service or you can't watch tv. NO you don't need cable. Now we have Roku and netflix and with this antenna we couldn't be happier for $10 a month comparing to $149 for Cox cable!?!?
I was making the switch from Cable to OTA, and bought this nice antenna along with the ChannelMaster DVR online. The antenna works great. We live in the suburbs of Indianapolis, about 12 miles from main Indy stations and get them all great. It was easy to put together -- the toughest spot was determining where to mount it and getting the right mounting pole to work in my attic. I like that I can use it to also get FM stations as well. Our main TV is in the basement, so I bought a splitter ($5) to split the feed from antenna to both my AV receiver (for FM stations) and to the DVR for HD TV. No problems with degradation of sound or picture quality.
I'm getting excellent reception from both vhf and uhf stations that are 18-23 mile away in the same direction, but reception is highly directional. I had hoped to receive another uhf station, without using a rotor, that is closer but 90 degrees off the primary azimuth. It looks great without looking like a traditional antenna. Assembling and installing the antenna are required.
We now get more channels then standard cable and its free! Any pay per view or sporting events I can stream online so I will never pay for tv again!
I mounted it on the roof, and plugged the coaxal cable into my cable providers feed to my house. I hooked a signal booster up inside my house to boost the antennal signal to all the rooms that have cable. And every room has had a strong signal since i hooked it up 2 months ago. plus i get more channels!!!! great idea vs a cable bill!
On a limited budget so cable or satellite was out of the question. Bought this for about $40 and it works great. Picks up the channels I expected to get as noted at antennaweb.com. It is not even as high as it could be. In the spring I might even take it to the top of my roof and I am sure it will pick up other channels.
We were trying to save money on our cable bills so we purchased an HDTV/LCD from Walmart. Our son, who use to work for a cable company, told us to purchase this particular antenna to which he installed for us. We get a total of 30 channels (some duplicates) but reception is excellent and best of all, the picture remains clear even in windy weather, unlike the cable. We now save $60 plus dollars each month. We get all of the local channels!
I decided to remove my cable TV and tried several indoor antenna from $7 to $70; all can pull the uhf channels very clearly but none could pull in the hi-vhf channels 8, 11 and 13. I cannot install in my attic because I just put in a foot thick of new insulation and cannot install any big outdoor antenna on my roof because of strict deed restrictions in our subdivision. I live in the Houston suburbs, 23 miles SE of the towers. This small outdoor antenna is a lifesaver; I installed it against the fascia of the roof in the back (away from street view) and ran cables to my master bedroom and the living room. No problems getting the hi-vhf channels and saving $100/month from cable fees!
We were at a campsite that was not near any large city. Ended up receiving lots of channels with an ultra clear HD picture. We had a 3 year old antenna that came with the trailer. We tried to use it and got no channels at all. The Channel Master was easy to put up and to use. A+
I unpacked the antenna and hooked it to my tv indoors. I got all the channels I want without taking it outside. I casually put it on a latter about 6ft tall in my backyard and I noticed the signal strengths on the channels went up (about 80% and up on all of them). I haven't mounted it on my roof just yet.
