Love this grill/smoker! followed instructions for 'curing' the paint, but the lid on the smaller section rusted within the first few months. but over a year later, this grill is still up and running! cannot beat it! especially for the price!! you can use either section by itself(at different times) or together. LOVE IT!!!!
We brought this grill/smoker because we wanted a smoker that you could use charcoal. We have a electric one but this one is great you get the smoke flavor and you get the charcoal flavor too. We have used this smoker a lot for pork shoulder,ham, ribs it's great.
I've had my Char-Broil product a few months and use it at least twice a week for everything from burgers to steaks to slow smoking pork ribs and shoulders. It's easy to control the temp when doing the "low and slow" smoking process we use down South. Having wheels it's easily movable from the patio to a big shade tree or anywhere else we decide to setup. Along with a very reasonable price, the features of this product make it a must-have for anyone that likes their meat and vegetables cooked over a wood fire.
I've been looking for a new BBQ since my kettle grill is falling apart (it lasted 25+ yrs). I was amazed at how well this one worked. The only complaints I have (and they're small) is the temperature gauge that comes with it is next to useless. It's works, but it's range is so great that you could have a 50+ temperature difference from one end to the other of the cooking box and not know it. However, this can be fixed by buying and installing two temperature gauges at grill level (I bought the Char Broil gauges for $7 each). Using these gauges I was able to keep the cooking temps within 10 degrees of one another on a breezy day. Another is that the identification of the hardware doesn't match the numbering in the directions, but if you just follow the directions by the description of the part you'll get it put together correctly. Also, the hardware comes nicely packaged and everything I needed was included. Also, for a long smoke, use hardwood charcoal not briquettes. I found that the briquettes make to much ash in the firebox and eventually start to smother the fire. I used Kingsford Competition and Stubbs.
Checked out many smoker /grills but this was the best value. Instructions say it takes two to assemble but I did it myself. Smoker box and grilling area hold heat well. Grilling surface large enough to feed an army...or atleast all my family and friends.
Very easy to assemble, I'm a woman and never put anything together by myself, but rather enjoyed it. I love the smoker/grill combination, its built well and even has a nice warming tray! I shopped around a lot, and this was a very good price. I'm very happy with it..
Very happy with the grill. Was surprised how easy it was to put together. My daughter put it all together with the help of my 1 year old grandson. Took her 3 to 4 hours but she did it! It is a Fathers Day gift for my son in law. I myself have one like it and have used it for a long time. Still love it!
This is a great grill for beginner, nice and big.....probably could cook 10 to 11 ribs on it. Easy access to the empty out the ashes from the firebox. And the firebox paint will peal off, didn't really matter to me. What can you expect when the temp in the firebox is above 500-600 degrees. Overall I was happy with the purchase.
Nice smoker. I am a beginner when it comes to smoking meat, but so far this unit has done a great job. I was able to purchase mine pre-assembled at my store, which was a plus. I would STRONGLY suggest anyone to follow the seasoning instructions before using the smoker the first time. The only complaint I have is the thermostat. I purchased a couple of small temp gauges and a place them on the grill grates to have a more accurate temp measurement. I smoked some ribs, sausage, and chicken one weekend for my brother and his family and he bought one for himself when he got back home. He hasn't had any issues with his either. Good Product.
Bought this product thinking it would be a good smoker for the money. The thought and ideas behind are good but it does have flaws. Once you get the fire going and smoke rolling it leaks out smoke all over the place except the smoke vent pipe located on top of the cooking area. Smoke comes out all around the cooking area door and every where else it can. This item is pretty limited on controlling your heat and smoke flow since it egets air flow from all over. You cannot shut off the air to the fire even with the vent on the end of the firebox. When you close off the smoke outlet the smoke just pours out of everywhere else so you have no control of it. It does make a good grill, but a barell cut in half can do that just as well. Not reccomended!
