I purchased this grill about a month ago and really love it! I wasn't sure about the Tru-Infrared design but it sounded intriguing because I read that it doesn't dry out the food but helps to retain the juices. This past weekend I put it to the ultimate test cooking for 30 people and fraternizing with the guests while grilling. Well I didn't keep track of my time as well as I should have and didn't get back to the grill on time. When I went to check on the chicken it was just fine. Everyone loved the chicken and commented on how good it was. If this was a traditional grill the chicken would have been dry and over-charred. I am happy with the purchase.
The first Char-Broil product I bought was the Big Easy. I can't say enough great things about. Then when I needed a new grill, it only made sense to the an IR grill. So I happened to be in my local home improvement store and saw the Char-Broil IR series. I ended up with the Char-Broil 3 burner IR grill (Gourmet version). I am very happy with the way it cooks. Uses less gas than my last grill and very easy to clean up. Definitely recommend!!
I bought the grill before Memorial Day. I shopped around for about a week and settled on Char-Broil for its positive reviews online and the fact I could get 3 burners and a side burner for the same price as a competing brand's 2 burner (and no side burner). I set it up myself and while I (and the instructions) recommend having at least two people work on it due to weight, assembly really wasn't that difficult. Ignition is a breeze and it heats up quickly. I find cooking to be easy as well and the food remains juicy.

I've been impressed with how quickly and evenly this grill cooks. Not having an open flame takes a little getting used to, but makes so much sense. I don't know if I'd go back. Can still get grill marks, but not uneven cooking or searing. Food is noticeably juicier. Seems easy to maintain. Hoping the flame cover will make the burners last longer. Side burner is always a plus.
This product was easy to assemble, cooks to perfection, and easy to clean.
After looking at a number of grills by different manufactureres, we decided on the Char-Broil Infrared. I thought it matched up best with the way I have been used to grilling. I have not been disappointed. The very first time I fired it up the food was cooked just exactly the way I wanted. The best part, though, is that it has been even better as I learned how to really use it.
Easy to cook on. No flare ups while cooking. I do have a problem with how the sides of the lid have discolored already from the heat. I keep it covered to hide it. Also while I had the grill on the cleaning feature after I grilled some ribs, I heard a loud noise and I looked back and flames were shooting out. Opened the lid carefully and high flames were every where. Burned my arm in the process. So I recommend before using the cleaning feature, that you wipe out the grease first because it will ignite.
Like the way it cooks. You put stainless steel on the outside [a facade] and rusting type, steel components, screws, plates, etc on the inside which need to be replaced in short periods of time
I bought this a few months ago, and it works like it should with a few issues I'd like to address. The "infrared" trough/plate under the grates is a good idea, but has problems. The trough catches all the grease and just burns it so the food tends to have a burnt oil taste, and the trough warps. I'm on my second trough, which was very easy to get after they forgot my order for 4 weeks. After they put the order through, I got the part in a couple days. but within 2-3 uses its warped again and the grates don't sit well, they go so far as to try to overlap each other. A simple support brace in the middle of the trough would probably alleviate this problem. The trough needs to be cleaned before each use or you'll get funky flavors, it sorta negates the ease of use of having a gas grill thought it still prolongs the life. The thermometer sticks a lot, I thought it was a one-off and they sent me another that does thee same thing. You might think about replacing it somehow with an aftermarket thermometer that gives more accurate readings. Nothing like cooking something and suddenly the thermometer will jump from 200-400 F in a second. Tapping on the face seems to help but that thing gets hot quickly. That said, it does what it says, its easy to use and the side burner is nice. I think it could use a slight update to the design, so until then I can't really recommend it.
