I'm 62 and I had to start all over again, on the cheap side. I had no knives. This set is very nice. Just lacking a large knife. Sturdy and sharp. Good handles.
I love this set of knifes. Easy to handle and stays sharp. I have arthritis and these knives make meal prep much easier for me. Highly reccomend.
Knives are well balanced and lightweight. I did not expect them to stand up to heavier tasks but was very pleased with their performance when chopping a tough rutabaga and cutting through chicken wing bones. The only disappointment is the storage block. One of the knives does not fit in any of the slots.
I had a larger block of Henckel knives but only used three of the knives regularly plus they were all serrated and did not sharpen well. This Chicago cutlery set has exactly the knives that I need and they can be sharpened easily when necessary. I have a larger Chicago cutlery chef knife that I just had sharpened and the pro who did the sharpening said that Chicago cutlery is one of the best products on the market.
This knife set is perfect for me. I don't eat steak and I don't need a lot of knives. I can chop my veggies and slice my meats easily. They are really sharp and gets the job done. The block is not large at all so its not in the way taking up counter space.
I have other Chicago Cutlery knives and wanted a set that came in a block to save space in utensil drawer. This set came with only the knives I needed. I especially like the warranty. Set was delivered to local store and came undamaged.

Knives not sharp or of typical Chicago cutlery quality .
I waited a year to write this, to be sure I wasn't wrong. Either these were Knockoffs, or Chicago Cuttlery's Quality has really gone down :(( Within weeks, these became frustratingly-dull. Now, approx. a year, since buying these, I've still continued "defaulting" to using my much older knives. They never did live up to their promise I'd expected from "Chicago Cuttlery." Am highly disappointed, it was a Waste of money, and I would never recommend these to anyone.
I returned it the next day it was very small, kinda cheap quality. Not like the old Chicago cutlery. Still waiting for the refund
