I got this as a gift from my mom. We meant to put my daughters hand print and foot print in this when she was a month old but when we tried it, all she did was make a fist and when she did have her hand in the mold she grab it. So, when she turned one on Dec. 2nd we tried it again and went to the store and bought plaster of paris. Now if you do this you have to get the mix just right or it will be to runny or too stiff. Her hand print turned out perfect! She thought it was the funniest thing in the world just laughing up. I had to push her hand in it kinda hard cause the plaster was already setting up. I would recommend this and I guess you just got to read the instructions for it to come out right.
i purchased this for my son 6 yrs ago & will be buying it again for the new baby. i did not have any problems w/ mixing the mold or making the print. just make sure it's not too wet when you do it. it came w/ a powder to color in the print to make it easier to see. i don't know if it still does. this was a good value for the money.
I recieved this as a baby shower gift. I waited until my lil girl was a bit older figureing that it would be easier once her hand wasn't continually in a newborn fist. It doesn't mix well, or set evenly. Her hand stuck into the plaster and when I pulled it out it just looked like a big ole glob, not a cute lil handprint. Thinking on it I smoothed it over and tried again with her foot, and it still just came out a unrecognizeable smoosh in the plaster. I threw it away. Im going to take some H2O based paints, paint her hands and feet and make a picture for a wall frame. Will work much better and will be colorful in pink and purple.
Walmart used to carry this same kit made by Baby Connection and it was wonderful and easy to use (I use these kits to make paw prints of my cats when they pass away). The last kit I used was a newer one I had bought by Child of Mine. The directions weren't very clear and by the time I was ready to make the imprint, the plaster had hardened too quickly for me to do so. So I pulled out a second kit, mixed it up, and got nothing but a big ugly glob. I was so disappointed. I couldn't figure out why I had such a hard time this time so I pulled out one I had bought earlier and it was by Baby Connection. Even though they look exactly the same, they are not.
I bought two of these kits thinking that they'd be a great gift to give to my parents and my husband's parents as a gift. This was the worst product to ever do an imprint with. I read the directions a couple times before I even started trying to make the plaster. The plaster was simple to make and I would definitely recommend using an old butter tub or container. I poured it into the trays ok but couldn't get rid of the air bubbles and tapping the sides does not work nor does using something to smooth them out. I wait the time it said and then had to wait some more and then tried to do the imprint. It kind of took but then it within a couple minutes it had completely hardened to where I couldn't use either kit and wasn't able to get an imprint at all. The first kit I made actually didn't harden until after the second one also. The timing was off on how long to wait and because of it I wasted my time and money on both of these kits and won't be giving them as gifts.
I got this as a gift and once I was ready to make the handprint of my son it came out as a big glob! So I figured maybe it needed to harden up a little and then I would try again but then it was too hard and I was unable to get a handprint at all! So I had to throw it away. I did go and buy a different kit that requires you to make the print and then bake it so it hardens. That worked out MUCH better because I was able to redo the handprint until it came out just perfect. So I did end up with a really cute handprint, but NOT from this product.
