Works great, still unsure of actual range for VHF vs GMRS since most of my use is in very hilly terrain. Owner's manual mentions privacy codes but gives no idea how to set them - trial and error revealed these are the CSCS codes in the setup - and was very happy to learn these privacy codes are numerically compatible with my kids' Uniden GMRS walkie talkies.
Works great. I have not found a limit on it yet. We have been 5 miles away with no issues communicating
Excellent little radio. I use it for both fishing and hunting. No issues!
use this radio for going hunting with my union buddies. they love it and love it. although the radio is not very rugged, it does have crisp clear communication!
I bought two of them. One seemed to be not as loud as the other. I bought them for two reason. One for when wife is on the lake with her kayak. And when I am doing my pt job. Traveling. Two trucks. Need communication. They seem to have a pretty good distance. But. Will check out better this weekend.
I bough this model to use in my boat, so I could do the VHF channels but also communicate with my motorhome, which uses a FRS radio with a long range antenna. It never worked, all configuration for the GMRS band is correct in terms of channel, privacy code. My kids can hear the radio trying to tx/rx, but it is just noise.
