This bulb works just fine. In fact, you will find it in more than half of the mid-size four battery lanterns. Be glad you only bought one at your local store -- they are $5.88 here online. I rate it at four stars because brighter bulbs are available (but they do suck up more electricity).
The bulb was too long to work in my lantern. I need to return it. Sorry.
ordered this bulb for my Coleman rechargeable lantern. Tried both bulbs, they fit however neither of the bulbs worked. The battery in my lantern still burns the night light so I am not sure of the problem. I just know that the u-tube bulbs would not burn.
This was my second coleman light bulb to order from Walmart.com and just like the first one it didn't work. I will be returning the item to my local store this week. Just like my first light bulb I ordered when I opened the box was very surprised to see very little packing material for such a delicate item. Neither bulb worked and both made a rattling noise. I put the bulb into a working coleman lantern that has a working light bulb and the new bulb would not work. Walmart should do a much better job in adding packing material for breakable items. After two attempts I'll be buying direct from coleman and paying double the price but at least I will have piece of mind knowing it will be properly packed.
This replacement bulb did not work as advertised. The bulb might work in the rechargeable Coleman lantern but not in my Coleman lantern which requires D-cell batteries.
