I was very pleased when given the opportunity to try the Colgate Optic White 2-in-1 Whitening kit for free in exchange for a review as I have purchased numerous teeth whitening products over the years of which either didn't make any noticeable difference or I had to quit using because of my tooth sensitivity (I have been using sensitive teeth toothpaste for years). The kit contains: a toothbrush which is supposed to be designed “to remove surface stains, deeply whiten, and help seal out new stains” The bristles are different feeling to be sure and although they didn't feel harsh the only thing I could think of that they remind me of are those nylon kitchen scouring pads-not sure how I thought of those!) but I decided to keep using the brush to get the full effect of the treatment. After a day or two I got used to it. In the base of the brush is a built-in “whitening pen” that pulls out and snaps back in. After brushing your teeth as you normally would, you apply the gel and leave it on. They also include a tube of Optic White anticavity fluoride toothpaste. I figured I would find the toothpaste aggravating with my sensitive teeth (and they say in instructions you can use your regular toothpaste) but was surprised when it didn't bother me at all! They say teeth are whiter in 2 days (and I read somewhere 3 shades whiter) and that is definitely accurate. I have been using for about a week now and I can already notice a difference and they say to use until gel pen has ran out. I would recommend to anyone including those with sensitive teeth wanting to whiten their teeth without the hassle of strips or the expense of a dentist.
Colgate's Optic White toothbrush, whitening pen and paste are included in this collection that I received free from Walmart's Spark Reviewer Program. I like all three pen, paste and toothbrush. The toothbrush has an unusual contour that easily reached teeth located in the back of the mouth. The pen fits into the toothbrush. Instructions explain very clearly just how to use the pen. Also, the taste is a soft minty flavor that I enjoyed. The pen feels like toothpaste on your teeth at first, then later I did not notice it. No need to rinse. Most important of all, the whitening gel is safe for enamel and did not cause sensitivity for me. Safe to use every day; however, when using on crowns, porcelain fillings, or veneers, you may not obtain the same results as when used on natural teeth.
I ordered the Colgate Optic white 2 in 1 whitening kit. I read and followed the instructions. The instructions were very easy to understand. I brushed my teeth with my regular brush. Next, I applied the whitening gel with the whitening pen using the 2 click process to advance the gel. Next, I used the specially made toothbrush that came with the kit to brush the whitening gel over my teeth which has polishing bristles. The brush glides very easy over my teeth. The whitening gel mixes with saliva and when I spit it out, I felt a film in my mouth. So, I know according to directions I don't have to rinse: however, I brushed my teeth to get rid of the film on my teeth and mouth. It felt more comfortable after doing so. I am an avid coffee and iced tea drinker. This product seems to have lighten my teeth color substantially after 2 applications. I will keep using it to continue to lighten my teeth color from years of drinking coffee and tea. I will especially use the optic white platinum toothpaste with white seal technology after drinking coffee and tea for protection and keep up the whitening benefits. On the second day, my teeth appeared whiter after applying the product for the second day. I plan on purchasing this product in the future and would recommend it. However, it is not a bleaching agent like the procedure from a dentist office. It is a pretty good substitute. I have seen this product advertised on tv and its seems to work as it says it does.
My teeth were dis colored as a result of drinking coffee and smoking. I quit smoking a long time ago, but the stains remain. I have been using the Colgate Whitening Kit for about one week. The package advertises that the discoloration will be reduced within two days. I find that I needed more time to appreciate improvement. After using the product this long, I can definitely see a good amount of improvement. I recommend taking a photo before and after use of this product so you can appreciate the benefits of its use. I simply substituted my regular toothpaste with the Optic White Toothpaste. After brushing my teeth, I applied the whitening gel. The applicator is a bit unusual and it requires special care when applying the gel with the applicator. I would rather be able to cover the gel and lock it in after applying to assure it remains where I placed it. However, this product was not designed with this benefit. Therefore, it is possible that the gel will be swallowed or spit out after applying. I would recommend redesigning the applicator. The applicator fits conveniently into the toothbrush handle provided. It is nice to have whiter front teeth and expect even more improvement in time with the use of the Colgate Whitening Kit.
This was the first review in which I included before and after pictures. These were taken for comparison, to help in giving a true outcome. Despite the hesitancy to try the item because of the negative stigma that comes with the idea of a whitener, I had no motivation to try an item of this sort. However, having it marketed with a toothbrush-AND a pen installed inside the brush-made it more intriguing to try. The packaging was a little confusing, as the main package contained 2 items. Each item was packaged in and of itself, inside the main box, but the instructions were easy to read, and understand. While the instructions stated that the item was to be tried for four weeks before I was to see a full improvement, I saw a difference within 1 week of use. I have been an avid coffee drinker for many many years, and have been told that my brown stains are permanent, as a result. While teeth can turn to a mild yellow with age (as mine did), the a mild brightening started on day one. The yellow near the top was what as affected first, but then the middle started whitening on the third day. By the fifth day, I noticed that the brown coffee stains near the gums were lightening. It has now been over a week, and the teeth are getting whiter where needed, and lighter in other areas. I will continue to use the product for recommend full four weeks, as a result. While I do not see the stains removed, I do see that they are fading. Truthfully, I do not know what to expect with that, but am happy with the results so far. The attached pictures have not been doctored: they were taken indoors, with strong light. And yes, I DO recommend this product for those looking to try something new, or for those looking for a new brand/item that works. I truly thank Sparkreviewer for giving me a great personal challenge. This one was quite the surprise :) A good whitener for a brighter smile.
I have used many different tooth whitening products and this is the easiest and quickest product to get noticeable results that I have used. The minty flavor of the toothpaste is pleasant and seems to clean my teeth well. The toothbrush at first seemed awkward to use since the handle is larger than my previous brush. But the whitening pen slips into the large handle end which makes it so easy to get to after brushing. You can't forget where you put it. I think I can tell it is beginning to whiten the tea and coffee stains from my teeth but there is no magic yet. I will continue to use it and hopefully my teeth will become stain-free.
I got to try the Colgate whitening tooth paste and whitener kit and here are some of my thoughts. The whitening kit comes with the full size whitening paste, as well as a toothbrush and whitening paste/gel that slides into the bottom of the toothbrush for storage. The whitening pen has a soft rubber nubby tip for application. I have to say that the whitener is really not all that exciting. It has a very awkward taste, goes on very thick leaving a very weird pasty residue on your teeth and the residue it leaves behind is extremely greasy, avoid getting it on your lips or hands because it takes forever to come off. I like that the pen goes right into the tooth rush for storage though, and clicks tight so it doesn't just slide out. The brush itself is soft and not stiff or anything. The paste is really nice. I love that it's not overpowering minty taste or smell. It doesn't leave your breath smelling great for awhile but it also doesn't burn while using it. The paste is extremely foamy when you start brushing. It also has a little bit of a salty type of baKing soda taste which I'm not fond of, but overall it leaves your teeth feeling very smooth and clean.
I was eager to try this product as I was without insurance a great many years, leaving my teeth pretty stained. In short. It did work. However, there are some drawbacks. First, as with most toothpastes, this contains SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). Even though I have a sensitivity to sulfates, I don't have issues with my regular toothpaste. This one however, caused mouth sores, swelling, and skin to start shedding off the inside of my cheeks. It took awhile to figure out the connection but once I quit using the toothpaste, the symptoms disappeared. Secondly, the toothbrush is too wide. I have a small mouth and have to find toothbrushes with small heads. This one did have a small enough head, but the bristles are way too wide. Instead on brushing a small portion of the gums, it world scrub the whole area. Which was painful. Even though it's "designed" to lift stains, I found using my battery powered toothbrush worked better for that purpose anyway. Thirdly, the leave on paste seemed to be just a mix of peroxide and baking soda. I couldn't find the ingredients on the package to find out what it was exactly. It doesn't stay put when you apply it. The tips of my teeth ended up getting over bleached even though I would put the paste at the gum line. And obviously, beware that chalky pastey feeling you'll get in your mouth as the paste migrates. So if you want to use the product, I'd say use an electric toothbrush with it and try to keep your mouth as dry as possible for the paste to stay put.
This product makes the claim that it can whiten the teeth "more than 3 shades" within two days. However, after carefully following the usage directions I did not see any dramatic results as promised. I should mention that my teeth was not, in my opinion, badly stained to begin with. I am neither a smoker nor a coffee drinker and I brush my teeth regularly with a mixture of baking soda and salt. However, since I was able to use the product for an additional 11 days I am happy to report that I did notice a difference in the whiteness of my teeth... It positively worked! Due to the subjective nature of trying to assess exactly how many shades of whiteness were the result, I can only say that my teeth did appear whiter than before but qualitatively speaking I cannot tell you by how many degrees. Having said the above, I can also definitely attest to the fact that the toothbrush provided is very comfortable to use and made my teeth and mouth feel 'cleaner' than that of the electric toothbrush I normally use. This actually surprised me because the electric toothbrush tends to clean the teeth in a much more rigorous and thorough manner than just regular brushing. All-in-all, if you're going to use this Colgate Optic White 2-in-1 Whitening Kit I would recommend DAILY use of this product as a way to maintain your present teeth whiteness; but please do not expect any miracles -- especially within a two-day period as this kit advertises and also knowing that your teeth are not very stained to begin with.
This whitening kit came with a 3.4 OZ (96 g) mint flavored toothpaste, a 0.16 fl OZ (5 mL) whitening pen that contains a gel, and a high quality toothbrush. The whitening gel pen can be inserted into the toothbrush for storage after use. The instructions said to brush the teeth first with the toothpaste. Then it said to apply the gel on teeth and continue the routine twice a day, daily. The box also said that waiting and rinsing is not necessary after the gel is applied from the pen. However, I found this uncomfortable, especially when going to bed with the feeling of gel still clinging to my teeth. The toothpaste gets warmer once it is mixed with your saliva in the mouth. I experienced irritation inside in my mouth and gums, the first couple of days I brushed with this toothpaste. To test whether it is the toothpaste or the gel from the pen, I used only the toothpaste for a several days. This allowed me to confirm it is the toothpaste that irritates my mouth and not the gel. This subsided after a couple of days of use. I did see that my teeth were noticeably whiter after a few days of use. However, my bottom row teeth were still relatively less white compared to the top row. Overall, the product works, but I will not try this again due to the discomfort from the toothpaste. I recommend the pen with gel and the toothbrush with a different toothpaste.
