My 6 year old wears his coat in a place that gets 180 inches of rain a year. After 3 moths I am pleased with how dry he is. It does not keep you warms only dry. So get a size bigger if you want to have warm layers under.
My son loves this jacket! Especially that it is lightweight (he doesn't get hot) and keeps him dry. It's perfect for wet weather in the spring and early fall. We have gotten several Columbia jackets/coats for our kids and have never been disappointed by the quality!
This Jacket fits perfectly, it is extremely light weight, and completely waterproof! It was easy to pack and exactly what my son needed for his busy week of touring DC. Thank you Columbia...you always perform.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought two of these for my boys to wear on rainy schooldays. They are excellent quality and lightweight so they work well for warmer days and can be layered over a heavier jacket or hoodie when the weather turns cool. They are waterproof so they stay dry on their walk to school and the hood has a little bill that keeps rain out of their faces. They look good, too so they don't feel like their mom is dressing them like dorks (very important in middle school). The sizing is right on and I think we'll get a couple of years wear out of them, at least. Great product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the blue size XXS for my four year old grandson as he needed a rain jacket for school. The colors are perfect, and the fit is great. The sleeves are a little long, but can be pushed up a few inches easily. The lightweight quality of this jacket is great for the hot weather in Puerto Rico where he lives, and the hood keeps his little head dry!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a rather "petite" adult woman (~5'3", 120 lbs), and I ordered this jacket in an XL. It fits perfectly! I have worn it in warmer weather with just a t shirt underneath and it keeps the rain off well. I recently wore it on a long field work trip where I was in 30 degree sleet for 5 hours. It kept me very dry, and the sizing allowed me to wear a t shirt, thermal, and sweatshirt underneath the raincoat with plenty of room to spare. Even when this jacket isn't on sale, it's a much cheaper alternative to the similar adult jackets, and apparently works just as well!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The color and size is great.. ( purchased medium in blue) only problem.. the jacket is paper thin.. there is no lining at all.. it's like the jackets you buy that roll up into a pouch. I didn't want anything lined or heavy as this is for the summer but I was shocked to see the quality.. I have similar jackets from last year that are still light weight but at least have a mesh lining and the material is not like paper. Will be returning and trying a different jacket. I was very surprised given the price.
I realize that this is a lightweight rain jacket, but this thing is paper thin. I wore it while hiking in the woods during a light rain and ended up soaked after 20 minutes into the hike.
It is not waterproof. Water started soaking through on the third wear.
I don't know why they use the word "water proof". Sure, maybe in a 5 second rainstorm. My son wore this with his Boy Scout troop and it only lasted 10 minutes until he was soaked underneath to the bone. Should be marketed as water resistant but sad Columbia uses waterproof for this product.
