I am 14 and have this computer. It is really great especially for under $300. Many people complain about the Celeron processor, BUT those people like gaming computers. This is the PERFECT computer for me because I don't multitask. The picture of the computer shows an integrated web cam, but that is false advertisement because there isn't one. The keyboard is great because it has many one-touch keys. I am not saying the computer is flawless. The Li ion battery has great life, but it needs to be replaced every 1-2 years
Heres the deal. If your looking for a basic computer to surf the web, store photos on or play kids games this is a great computer. If you think it's going to replace your 2k dell or mac your nutts. This is a great computer for a young kid or someone looking for a home computer for the basic stuff. The mouse touch pad is not great but is functional. The computers fuctionality is greatly improved with the use of a external mouse. I bought two one for a kid and one for my wife and I as a basic home web surfer.
This is about the best bang for your buck... just keep in mind that we're talking about a laptop for UNDER $300, it's not a i7 X995 CPU! The installed Celeron 900 is about 50% faster than other similar laptops with the Sempron SI-45 CPU installed. Battery life is very good, the memory and hard drive are more than enough for 98% of the people who will buy this laptop. I have another laptop that is a few years old, I'm getting this one because it does everything I need it to do, just in case my other one decides to die on me. I can tote this baby around and not have to worry about damaging an expensive laptop. If you want an inexpensive laptop that does the basics very well, then this is the one for you. If you expect more than that, you're looking at the wrong laptop to begin with. For my $288, I can't find a better laptop.
Great laptop! Very happy. I only use Facebook, music and movies. I write email to groups which are word and excel. I don't need alot and this little laptop does them all. Very easy to set up and to use. Oh I didn't even mention the price...way cool! I had a top of the line media **** and it was just a hare over $1000 and it lasted just over a year and crashed. Got it fixed which cost over $300 and then a year later crashed again. Done with the top of the line for what i need this is perfect!
I have three of these laptops. They are all running smoothly. They are not top of the line...just basic graphics and good speed, good solid laptops. All three have MS Office 2007 and not much else. My kids - two boys ages 7 and 8 - use theirs all of the time. We personalize them with our favorite skins so we know whose is whose. Mine is one year old, the kids' are now two years old and all are working GREAT. You really can't get a better laptop for the price. Buy if you can...they'll last a while.
This is a good laptop for the price. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 starts is the Celeron processor. It has a great lcd screen, its light, battery life is very good, the speakers for being laptop speakers are actually very loud and made by a reputable company, Altec Lansing. It runs Windows 7 home premium smoothly and loads quickly. It only lacks when you try running multiple programs and begins to slow a bit because of the Celeron. If you arent a heavy duty user that plays memory munching games and half a dozen programs running at the same time i think you will love this laptop for its price.
This is a great price($288) for this single core processor laptop computer and what you get in the form of hardware/memory/software. It is more than adequate for business or pleasure unless you are an advanced gamer. And if you are that then you should not be looking at this computer anyway. To think that you are getting this much power/memory for the price, compared to 1980-90's computer power/memory/prices, boggles the mind.
If you do simple word processing, this is the laptop for you. It runs good, but much better when the RAM is upgraded to it's maximum capacity. For the money, you can't go wrong. It has everything you need and more! You can't beat the price for it's value!
It has enough power and lots of hard drive space. This computer would have been $999 in 2004 or 2005. Is it cutting edge for 2011? No. But it is better than no laptop. Everything nowadays is Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, or better. Even Quad and/or SIX cores. For most people that don't plan on editing pictures AND writing a novel while burning a CD or watching a movie, it will be more than enough. Just remember that you are buying what most of us took to Goodwill in 2008. Or that $150 more will get you something modern enough to keep a few years. Other than that, for kids or people that won't keep it long enough to become obsolete, it is AWESOME!
For your basic needs this laptop works great! If you are big gamer, you will need more power. For sending email, browsing the web, word doc. this is a good value. Windows 7 runs smooth and quick.
