My grandson loved this book. Great pictures and receipts Got it for his 11th birthday
This children's cookbook has 150 recipes that cover all the basics and then plenty more. Most of my kids favorite dishes are to be found represented strongly with a recipe that the whole family can have fun making together. While the food is generally appealing to kids, it isn't just bland, salty, fatty, sugary foods (although there are plenty of those). The recipes branch out in all directions. There could be more diversity in the regional cuisines but overall, this book has a lot to offer. My favorite thing about the recipes is how well they are presented. Everything is very clearly laid out for those who do not have much experience in the kitchen. Even more importantly, the overall presentation for each recipe is so good that it helps entice kids to spend the time and energy cooking the food shown. A lot of the recipes are basic, but you won't find some of the distasteful shortcuts that you often see in kid's cookbooks. For example, if there is a recipe for a cake, it is for an actual cake from scratch. Also important to note is that the book is quite big for a kid's cookbook. The other kid's cookbooks I own have may 50 recipes each, rather than 150. Also, they usually focus on baking or the other kind of cooking (whatever you would call it...cooking?). Having cookies, pies, cakes, and breads in addition to entrees, appetizers and snacks really makes it an exciting cookbook for children since they can plan out whole meals to make.
Easy follow instructions Bright pictures Fun for the whole family Early learning just by having fun with your family
My 8 year old was so excited about this cookbook. The recipes seem very simple for a child to follow. There's a wide variety of recipes. We can't wait to try them out!
AWESOME!!! Great recipes, easy to follow instructions and beautifully detailed pictures!
I like the children's cookbook. The instructions are simple and the pictures are appealing to children. I bought this for a 13 year old but, a child who can read, understand, and follow instructions will find this book helpful. They can cook on their own but of course adult supervision is required bcos tools in the kitchen can be sharp and dangerous. Grown ups can learn, cook and enjoy these recipes too. I tried the nicoise salad and I enjoyed it.
I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the book when I received it. The packaging was ripped and the edges of the book were bent. Also, the corners of a few pages in the book were folded over before being cut. The contents of the book are very nicely displayed.
We have made 2 recipes so far and can't make any more, they were that bad. They tasted terrible. I made the recipes with my son so I know they were made correctly. -Recipe measurements are occasionally (unnecessarily) done in grams? -Steps are skipped. This is unacceptable in a children's cookbook. -The pictures don't match up with the recipe. The smoothie is a strawberry smoothie with nothing green in it, but the picture that goes with the recipe is a green smoothie? The picture of the brownies has nuts or white chocolate or something, but the recipe doesn't ever mention mix ins. -Missing ingredients. The strawberry cake instructed my son to just whip the heavy cream for the topping. No added sugar at all for a whipped topping? We added sugar to it but the cake was so dry and flavorless it tasted and had the texture of cornbread. But it did look just like the picture, so at least they got that right this time. With butter and eggs being as expensive as they are, it was a very expensive cake to throw in the trash. Bought the cookbook because of the delicious looking food and step-by-step color picture instructions- don't be tricked by the same thing. It is not a good cookbook.
