I got the 8 foot model as the 10 was a little to large and you need more space to hang then the exact with of the shade, easy to install, basic tools needed, seems quite sturdy,does a good job of cutting down direct sunlight.
Bought these shades to cool a west facing screened in porch and couldn't be happier. Lowers temps, gives privacy and look great.
It was fairly easy to install and works well. Seems like it has dropped the temperature of our front room with a large window facing west by 5 degrees or better. Now the window AC in the back room (ground level) is able to keep the upstairs around a decent 75 degrees or so. The only things I don't like about it is the plastic chain on the side seems cheap and is a pain to use. I also don't think it came with any hooks to to hold the bottom down so it doesn't swing in the wind. Overall a good investment though, worth it and I think it looks okay too.
I added 4 Coolaroo sun shades, 3 to my eastern facing patio and 1 to a south facing window. I intend to add two more to other windows. They are great for keeping the house cool by blocking the sun yet still being able to see outside. They also are woven so that air can flow thru them so they don't billow in the wind. I love them and I think they look great too.
The quality is great. It is "see thru" but blocks the sun. It is also pretty. You almost don't know it is there. easy to install and easy to use. Up and down with a pull of the chain. I did not need the automatic one. the manual one is just fine and reasonable.
I purshased the Coolaroo shade to keep the sun off my the back of my house. This is easy to clean and is overall an excellent investment.
our shade tree died, no ground water, need to protect that area from the summer heat and this choice of a shade will help.
Tension roller difficult to figure out, since I have no toddlers I omitted its use. Reversing the clutch end was a problem, poor instruction but I finally did it. Desert Sand color looks great but is not as much shade as I expected. (I've had three smaller Cool-a-roo shades) Tugging rope to raise and lower seems hard so I hope it is durable, I try to avoid jerking and roll up and down slowly. We'll see how it performs over the years. Works fine and looks great, $100 a little high in my view but I got one on sale at OSH closeout for $69 and decided on another but OSH was out (out of business also) so Walmart had the best price, on-line only.
This is our 3rd set of the premier shades in the past 11 years as the salt air and sun is brutal on them. Our sunroon faces the west and the afternoon sun is extremely hot. We have (4) sliders and use the shades to break the heat. We find the fabric in this set is not quite as sturdy as the previous ones. A little disappointed that you can't find these in the store now. You can only find 90 to 95 % blocking in the stores and we enjoy looking at the wildlife in our yard. Would recommend these to anyone that needs privacy and a decrease in their utility bill. We modified our shades somewhat to keep them from flapping when the wind is high. The coating flakes off the bracket after a couple of years and tends to rust. Overall pleased with shades.
We returned because shade did not block enough light. Purchased a darker color which we like better. A great product.
