I upgraded to this Cosmos 2 from my old LG ENV2 that I had since 2008. My wife liked my new Cosmos so much that she got one too. Great phone for just making calls and texts. Speaker and volume quality is excellent. I suggest if you get one that you add at least a 8gig micro SD card. The phones internal memory is not that large. The coolest feature I like is you can plug the phone via USB into your computer and add sounds and ringtones yourself instead of buying them online. There are many websites out there that offer free .wav files which work as Ringtones too.
I have had a Cosmos 2 for just over a year and am continuously impressed by the hardiness of the design. I have accidentally dropped my phone down the stairs, onto the sidewalk, kicked it, left it outside in the cold, and most recently it fell into a bucket of water! After a couple nights sitting in some dry rice, it continues to work like the day I first got it :) Many people say the buttons are small - and they are - but I have small hands and it has worked out great for me. The battery life is at least a few days - generally 4-5 with standard use - and it charges quickly. Overall I am impressed with the way this model of phone was made and how it has withstood the test of time!
i have had this phone for four years and it has never drop a call.i haven't decided to change it because it works just Gr8.i would gladly recommend it to anyone who ask.thank you LG for a great product.
My wife and I both recently added texting to our plan and upgraded our phones to the Cosmos 2 to assist in texting. We do not have a data plan and so far are very pleased with our LG VN251 phone.
I am one of those unusual people who feel liberated by not being tethered 100% to my phone. I have no interest in having all of the smart phone features, because I will never use them while incommunicado. This phone is the perfect basic phone for me. I can use the simplest plan available, and still have phone and texting capabilities. This is the second Cosmo phone I've owned, and I have never had any issues with it. Sure, its performance and features cannot compare to most phones, but it is a solid, basic phone, if that's all you need.
This phone is great, if you don't mind waiting. This phone is SO SLOW. It takes around five minutes just to turn on. The battery only lasts three hours, I kept track. Once it goes down one bar, you might as well turn the phone off, it only lasts about an hour after that. When I was calling my mom about something, she said she could not understand me, and I had to re-call her on my home phone. It freezes a lot. When I first got it, I loved it. Maybe it was the thrill of getting a new phone, because there is NOTHING special about it. When I go to the apps, it takes literally an hour just to open it up. Do not get this phone it is a major disappointment. Also, when it charges it takes forever. The battery only lasts three hours, and it takes twice that to charge.
I picked this phone because my old LG phone of about 3 years finally started to show its age. That phone was no longer made and this one was almost identical in looks so I assumed, big mistake, that performance would be about the same... boy was I wrong. This phone seems to have a processor and/or video speed about half my old LG phone. And like others have said, when typing text messages it just freezes up for a few seconds then tries to catch up... have no idea why. And I've apparently somehow crashed the operating system on this phone on several occasions as the phone will just lock up then a few seconds later restart. The phone was cheep but so was my previous LG phone but I guess this time I really got what I paid for. I'll suffer with this phone for another year or so just so I feel like I got my monies worth then I think it's time to try another brand phone because this "newer" phone can't even keep up with it's twin from 3 years earlier.
Pros - You can use it for texts and calling. Can survive a few drops. Cons - Terrible button layout. Arrow keys are useless and make the keyboard feel cramped. Keyboard does not provide a satisfying feedback. Software is very slow. Pressing a button may take a few seconds to register. When navigating menus, it lags. Makes answering texts a chore. You have to work around the phone to make it work. Not the other way around. Don't even think about taking pictures with this.
This product has many flaws, such as the lock button is holding down the 0 button for about 5 seconds. It freezes many times. The speaker phone button and voice command button will be hit about twenty time in the first five minutes of having it. If you want a phone that is semi tough and don't want to use it for much then this is the phone for you.
beyond the painfully hideous/horrendous OS this phone lacks several practical physical aspects. Here are a few things to note: -It is missing easy access to the card reader (esp if you have a case on it). -while closed, the buttons left and right of the ok button are too close together. such that it is too easy to miss press. -while opened (keyboard view): the period, comma, dash, underscore and more are not very clear such that you are left guessing what will be printed.
