I bought these skates for my 7-year-old son. He had never rollerbladed before, so I was looking for a good starter skate. These are perfect. They are good quality, ABEC 5 bearings. Most children's skates are ABEC 1, and cost more than these. They are fairly easy to get on, and provide good ankle support. He practiced on our driveway for a few hours, and then I took him to an exercise trail nearby. He took right off! He loves them and asks to go skating a lot. He says they are very comfortable and do not pinch or hurt his feet. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good starter skate.
found this skate for my 6 year old son and thought it was a good deal with ABEC 5 bearings -- the best i could find anywhere near this price. the skates are comfortable and my son can put them on himself. they're his new favorite outdoor activity.
We bought this very same (identical, except these wheels are a bit more colorful) at our local skate rink for nearly three times the price we paid Wal-Mart Online! My 10 y.o. learned how to skate on them before some mean person stole them from our pick-up truck. He was heart-broke, I was angry and hurt for the little guy. I checked-out the popular Online auction sites, where they were listed at twice the price Wal-Mart was asking. And to top it off, I could order right from home and they arrived free shipping in just over one weeks time! Pick up was a breeze! Wow, my champ was beaming happy thanks to Online Wal-Mart. Now you know if the local skate rinks offer the Youth Derby Coyote Skate ( I have the adult size made by ABECS, France because we skate together!) They have to be good. The softer (not cheap hard plastic that tend to slide on indoor rink floors) 64mm Neo. wheels make rink skating a pleasure and they go fast! (He always wins or places in the session races our rink holds for the kids!.) And they are size adjustable, his go from size three to five with just a simple turn of the knob! And are they ever snappy looking! What a great investment if your child/children do a lot of indoor rink skating, they pay for themselves in no time at all, and just compare them in looks for what a renal has to offer: there is no comparison. Although these great skates are designed for smooth flat surfaces, we are use them outdoors for wide walk and bike-path excursions and have no trouble with them whatever. If you are looking for a skate for your child and indoor skating, I will highly recommend the Youth Derby Coyote Skate to everyone. I shopped around to find the best price on roller blades for my boys who are 6 and 8. These were it so I got them since my budget was limited. I bought them online and was not able to inspect the quality. They are proving to be well built and comfortable for my boys. The wheels are well centered over the boot. My boys have really enjoyed learning to skate in them.
I bought these for my son's 6th birthday. He has only used them once since then but I must say that I love how they fit. I like that the strings only go as high as a pair of tennis shoes, for added support for the foot, but with the ease of straps for the ankle and lower leg. Easy to adjust the size. We had to replace the bolts that hold the wheels on because in order to use them at the skating rink we have to have bolt protectors as to not scratch the floor of the rink. Other than that, my son loves them.
We got these for our 8 yo son and he loves them! They go really fast according to him and are nice and soft on the inside. They look great and the adjuster for changing the size of the skate is very easy to use. We will definitely buy this brand again. As far as Walmart shipping, we were pleased. The skates arrived before we expected them. I would recommend these to anyone.
I just picked up these skates via the site-to-store delivery program (which is great!). Anyway, I ordered the size medium skates for my daughter which are supposed to come with the 70mm wheels. They actually came with the 64mm wheels (which are only supposed to be on the size small skates). I contacted the manufacturer, Roller Derby and told the rep the situation. She was very helpful and said that they will ship me the correct size wheels right away at no charge. My daughter (age 7) has been skating for a few years now so I wanted her to have the larger wheels which will allow her to skate faster and keep up with her older sister!
I thought they were a great purchase overall for quality and price. However, I gave them to my daughter for her birhtday last night. She rolled around for a bit in our cul-de-sac and she had to take them off. There is a defect in the right heel. Feels like a screw is not all the way drilled down. So I have to go and exchange them today. bummer
The the construction of the skate is just average. The top adjustment belt is made of cheap plastic and won't last too long. The size adjuster is easy to use compare to other adjustable skates. For the price, I think this is an okay purchase. At least my daughter really enjoys it.
Like a previous customer, I ordered the size medium skate, but received it with a 64mm wheel instead of the 70mm. I called the manufacturer like the other person, but was received w/ poor customer service!!! They told me the website had wrong information regarding the wheel size. I mentioned that the box also stated that the medium skate had a 70 mm size. They are not sure why the box says it either. Very surprising that the VP of sales had no idea about the product he was selling! With all that said, my daughter loves the skates and they do seem to work well- easy to adjust.
