We just started giving our 4 year old real hair cuts with the clippers so this was the perfect gift for him. He loves to style and cut the hair of these little play dough figures. The included play dough is good and it keeps him busy for a while. Its pretty easy to use and clean after they're finished playing. I would definitely recommend this for anyone with a toddler.
My grandson is going to love this set. It reminds me of one I had as a kid. You put the dough in the head and push up and the hair comes out of the head. You can use any color dough you want and even use the little scissors to cut the hair. The only downfall, I remember having to take a toothpick to get the last little bit of dough out of the holes but I actually thought it was fun and I think my grandson will too. You only have to do that at clean up time. The little comb and styling chair are cute as well. Great deal and will provide hours of fun!
Entertaining. The toy comes in a cute box (good for gifting), it includes 1 chair salon hair, 2 “people” a girl and a boy, styling tools and 3 bottles of dough, with 5 different colors in total. I got it for my 5 year old daughter, she loves playing with dough, so this was immediately a hit. She just turned 5, so I had to help her with the set up, after I showed her a few times how to make the hair comes out, how to add more dough, she was able to do it by her self. I did had to help her sometimes removing unscrewing the little people from the seat, probably a 6 year old would not need any help. She really liked it, made her own hair colors combinations , cut it, even made braids. It entertained her for a few days, until she had mixed all the dough in to a one single color, and of course now she wants more colors, I am sure any kind of dough will work with the toy. As any other dough, if you don't put it away in the close container after playing with it, it will get hard. I definitely recommend it, very affordable toy that will entertain your kids.
I think the plastic parts are a bit hard for a young child to play with by themselves, they may need adult help. I didn't like that the dough gets stuck between hard to reach spots for cleaning. However, I find the dough super soft, no bad smells and I love that it doesn't feel sticky like it's competitor. I took a picture of the original and this one - you'll see how the original leaves some stuck behind but this brand stays super clean after playing with it. I've noticed that because it is super soft and cleans up well, my kiddos ask to play with this daily!!! Win for me, win for them!!! I'd definitely recommend it. I give it a four for the plastic parts, otherwise 5 for the dough itself.
She has played with it all weekend and continues to love it. The only complaint I have is that the feet doesn't fit onto the base of the little person, but other than that, she loves it. The playdoh doesn't stick to the floor and easy to vacuum up the bits and pieces. She's loving the playdoh hair salon!
I ordered the Softee Dough Silly Styles Hair Salon for my granddaughter who absolutely loves playing with play dough or Softee Dough. She is really enjoying this set and creating hairstyles for the boy and girl characters. This kit comes with a hair salon chair, two three-ounce cans of double color modeling compound dough, one three-ounce can of glitter modeling compound, a plastic scissor, a plastic modeling knife, two characters, a sticker sheet, a comb, and a plastic pretend razor. It has kept her imagination and attention busy for over an hour at a time which is substantial for a three-year-old. It is advertised as being great for color, STEM, and sensory learning but keep in mind that the kit is rated for children three-years-old and up. I am very pleased with the Softee Dough Silly Styles Hair Salon and look forward to trying out other Softee Dough kits. I would definitely recommend this kit for children who enjoy playing with clays and doughs because it brings a unique way of doing so by having it make “hair” that children can cut with the plastic scissor or style with the comb. Kids will have loads of fun with this kit.
My one year old and my 7 year older son they like to play with this she loves to cut their hair the only thing it is A little hard to feed the dough through other than that it is fun to mix colors to make deferent hair color overall I would definitely recommend.
My 5 years old granddaughter was excited to receive the 'Cra-Z-Art Softee Dough Silly Styles Hair Salon Super Soft Modeling Compound Activity Set'. Unfortunately it doesn't come with instructions. After looking at the box to determine how this set worked, we were still unable to figure out how to get the hair to 'grow'. After attempting to push the play dough through by hand, we finally figured out that you have to twist the yellow pole down through the purple chair. You then have to try to slide the character onto the seat (which isn't as easy as it sounds). Lastly you twist the seat until the yellow pole goes up through the character and pushes the play dough through the holes in the top. It was quite the adventure. You also have to clean the chair and pole after each use, as the play dough sticks to the grooves and makes it hard to use without cleaning. On the positive side, the play dough isn't as sticky as some I've purchased and clean up is fairly easy.
This toy is so cute. We love softee dough in my house so I was looking forward to a fun way to use it. I didnt expect to have to put it all together and be a pain for the kids to figure out. First issue was putting the person sticker on the body. If you out it on after the shoes, it's too tall. If you put it on before the shoes, the shoes won't slide on all the way and get stuck. Putting the sticker on after the shoes causes it to be too high around the top and has creases. Cosmetics, so not a huge issue, but not what I expected. It's fun to squeeze the hair out of the top, but there's a lot if twisting involved to get it to come out. The funniest part is styling the "hair" and cutting it. Overall it is a cute and neat toy, just be prepared to put it together and help the little ones out.
This Cra-Z-Art softee dough silly styles hair salon modeling dough activity set is ok but our chair that acts as the part that you push the dough through started to break on the first try and cracked on the second. Rated for 3+ but I'm not sure that a 3-5 year old could manage to turn the plunger to make the dough come out, especially without breaking the chair. It was the edge of the chair that holds the little person in place on the chair so once it breaks totally off it won't work at all anymore. We were so excited to play with this that even my 12 yr old granddaughter and 16 yr old daughter wanted to play with it. They agree that young children may not be able to work the plunger part as it can be hard to turn depending on how hard the dough is. Came with 3 containers of dough one was super soft, one was ok soft, but the third was kind of hard. Overall, I'm sorry to say I'm not too fond of this. Maybe it was a fluke and I hope so.
