I use these in my classroom. For me, the PROS far outweigh the CON. #1 No Plastic. No "forever in the environment." No need to recycle. #2) they don't dry out as markers do. Yes, they break, but I don't care. They get the job done without needless plastic. Making them into a "twistable" would just add plastic to the product.
We got an 8 pack of dry erase crayons & we loved them. Loved them so much we got the biggest pack. My toddler loves to create & we freely let her with these! She writes on everything like her white dresser/night stand & toys. Even the refrigerator, washer & trashcan got make overs. She knows the only off limit is fabrics! As well as knowing that only these are allowed everywhere. After we enjoy her art for a bit, we wipe it clean with a baby wipe. It’s nice not being worried about the little things in life.
I bought this to share with my Kinder and first grade students as a writing resource to help reinforce handwriting. I love the novelty of it for the students and that it gives them something static to practice with.
Elementary students leave the caps off dry erase markers, not a concern with the crayons
I found dry erase crayons at an outlet store in my neighborhood and bought some for 2 of my grandchildren and my Prek2 class. Love, love them. The only broken ones we had, two of the kids in my class deliberately broke them, just as they did the regular jumbo crayons. The kids loved them. No marker stains on their clothers or hands, easy to clean. They "drew" on the lapboards as well as the big whiteboard and had just as much fun cleaning them. I have six little ones in my class. I had never heard of these crayons before.
I bought this product last year and although they did break quickly my grandchildren, ages 1 to 5, love using them. We still use the larger broken pieces. A plastic tube like the Twistables would be nice. They also came in neon and bold colors. Wish those would come back.
I loove the crayons and am switching from markers. I love that they make less waste than markers. However, as a teacher, I need a set that has just the dark colors. Most of the colors are not dark enough for students to see from their seats. The yellow, lavender, and brown are nice bold colors for close up but not for distance (it's not really much different than markers...we use just black, blue, etc. as teachers). But I would LOOVE a package that has Black, Dark Blue, Dark Purple, and Dark Green. I hate that I am not using half of the package.
I was over joyed when my son received an 8 count box of these crayons. They were brilliant and beautiful. My son is two, so when they broke I paid it no mind. Well I bought the big box since I am a teacher. 96 should last me a few months. Fast forward, I started using them in class and they are too light on the white board, students had to be right on the board in order to see them (my son was given a dual sided board and I guess he pressed hard). They also break pretty quickly but that didn't bother me as much. All in all, I love the concept and hope to see new and improved by the time next school year starts.
I have only had these for about 3 months and I have so few left that are intact. They break so easy. At first I wasn't believing my students until I picked one up to write and it just ... broke! I won't recommend until it is made better or until it is made as a twistable.
I’m a preschool teacher and I bought this for my 4-5 year olds to help with their fine motor skills, without worrying about the permanence of other art utensils. The children love to write with these. Unfortunately, erasing them is next to impossible. It smears, smudges, that’s with pressing hard. Most of the time, it will remove a small layer and leave an imprint of the rest. For a classroom, these aren’t ideal. Perhaps for a household it would be easier to manage.
