I bought this for a 6 year old. I had never seen the small lava lamps before but the color is so beautiful with the bright yellow and aqua and it's the perfect size. The yellow actually looks lime green. The store associate liked it so much she was going to buy one for herself. You can't beat the price. Well worth the money and will last for years. I bought the red lava and blue background as well and it's so beautiful to watch. The lamps are much more than I expected and I'm so glad I bought them.
Purchased for my 12 year old son who wanted to replace his lava lamp - he loves it. Easy to assemble doesn't get too hot...great so far.
I ordered three lamps total and the other two were old school basic lava lamp and after receiving the groovy lamp I wish I would have ordered all three Groovy. They are fantastic to watch. Only problem I had was it arrived with a broken bulb so I had to wait longer to get the new one finally, it took a while. I would suggest if you get one of these and bulb is broken just go find one on your own, avoid the hassle. Oh and it takes a 30 watt bulb which they don't tell you. the others take a 25 watt .Oh well have fun with this lamp It's awesome
Received the lamp in a good condition (wax solid at the bottom). After waiting for the lamp to get to the room temperature I plugged it in and waited for another couple of hours. After that it works as expected producing nice floating wax bubbles. The lamp at the bottom is quite bright so you can stare at the lamp for too long. But it's a real nice little thing to have. The 2 hours start-up time is a tiny bit annoying but it's an expected requirement. The liquid is a kind of sea water-colored (not quite blue). But together with yellow wax you get greenish-looking bubbles. The base is plastic and I was concerned about safety. But running the lamp for 4 hours straight seems to be okay.
Works well, heats up quickly
The quality was cheap. The base was scratched and the light bulb was shattered throughout the whole box.
The light bulb was bad when I first opened the package, so it wouldn't work, turns out the bulb is very hard to find because this is not your average everyday lava lamp. I haven't been able to find a replacement anywhere.
Unfortunately I ordered 2 of these for Christmas presents. The first one :Adult person in room with child putting together the lamp. The base of the lamp flipped over and the glass portion of the light exploded on carpet. Glass flew all over carpet. Thank God the glass did not fly high enough to injure adult or child. The second one: Adult plugged into wall socket and approximately 3-4 minutes after the base became so hot to touch a severe burn could have occurred. Gathered broken pieces of glass and returned both lamps to Walmart
arrived broken and not sold in stores so never git a new one.
I need to know how to order a new bulb or have them replace one.
