Used this to make ice cream for 5 kids plus 2 adults! Only took about 30 minutes for the ice cream to be ready. I used vanilla ice cream recipe from the book. The kids said it was the best I've cream they ever had before they knew I made the ice cream from scratch! The mix ins part is a bit messy as it really shoots out but I think that probably adds to the fun for the kids lol. I expected the bowl to thaw out much faster than it actually did. We had a great maiden voyage with this little machine!
This item yields great ice cream and is easy to clean.
The owner's manual includes a lot of recipes for ice creams, sorbets, frozen drinks, and sauces. I just mix everything together ahead of time in my blender, then keep the pitcher of the ice cream base in the refrigerator until about 30 minutes before I'm ready to serve. Turn on the machine, pour in the base, and that's it. I really like the extra features too: 3 topping holders/dispensers, a sauce warmer, and an ice cream cone holder.
Typical well made Cuisinart quality. The only I'm not fond of is having to freeze the internal bowl for several hours in the freezer. Since the unit has no freezing mechanism, the frozen bowl has to provide all the cooling. Secondly once you make the mixture yo have to refrigerate is as well for a few hours. Nice unit, but you need to be OK with a one batch per day and done
I made ice cream for the 4th of July in my new ice cream maker. My grandsons and I had a great time with it. I did freeze the bowl for several days before using the machine. However I did not chill the milk mixture and it turned out great. We had fun adding miniature M&Ms and mini chocolate chips to our cones. Very easy to assemble and disassemble and clean. I'm going to buy one for a son for Christmas.
The recipes are great and instructions are easy to follow. Ice- cream is delicious and freezes well. Mix-in option so-so; i didn't try sprinkles - but they'd probably work well. East to clean. The main complaint I have is how much ice-cream is left on the paddle and inside the drum after it stops dispensing. I spend more time getting ice cream out of the machine after it's done because it's just too much to waste.
I received this product as a gift and I was able to use it. I am satisfied with the outcome of my first soft ice cream I made. Excited to use it again for another flavor ice cream.
This is just ok. This is my 2nd time using it. The ice cream does not come out through the server. I have not used the topping dispenser. I thought the ice cream recipe tasted better than the original cuisinart ice cream maker I have but I couldn't find a variety of different flavors.
Love the look & the handle to make an ice cream cone! However - it can only make enough to serve maybe 3-4 people & if you let the machine keep going (to try to add more ingredients to make more ice cream) the top pops off all the time! So it's a bit frustrating & too difficult to use for any more than 2-3 people. Also the first plop of ice cream is always liquid due to the plastic opening melting the ice cream…I have the drum style cuisinart & will go back to using that exclusively. This machine is a start cuisunart - but needs some improving! Recipes are out of this world good…
