Great for wounds and small abrasions. Silver chloride, carbomer, silver nitrate are battlefield tested from WW 2, and are making a comeback.
This stuff works great. I personally believe it helps to heal minor cuts much better and faster than the antibiotic creams. Great idea of using metal silver as a retardant to bacterial growth.
Almost returned. You'll get the correct item, but may not think so at first. What I received was Curad Germ Shield. Upon closer inspection, the upper right corner of the packaging says "Formerly Silver Solution". And the Product Facts on the back do say Silver (55ppm). In the end, you get the right thing, but the listing needs to be updated to avoid confusion since Curad has retitled this product.
I feed a feral tomcat that comes in beat up and cut up from fighting over the girls all the time and he gets huge abscesses on his head from the bites and tears. I had been using muipiricin gel on him(along with my healing prayers) and he always gets better. I found a tube of the Curad Silver Solution in my Medicine drawer and put that on him this time and he was markedly better the next morning and the gel had dried and looked like powder all around his ear where he was cut, and was still in place and there was no bloody area. I also put it on a place that looked like a ringworm and it was gone in a couple of days! I also put some on a 3 week old cat bite on my leg and it looked much better thr next day. The discoloration started fading.
I'm a skeptic about many "natural" and "holistic" health products. I'm not certain the regularly consumption of any of them have any scientifically proven effect. I do know, however, that silver has shown significant benefit for burn victims and difficult to heal wounds. I have had a non-healing nasal septum ulcer since I move to an extremely drive dry two years ago. My ENT has been baffled. we tried strong, prescription strength preparations for fungal, bacterial, and viral influences (including mupirocin for MRSA) with no success. Then I read a random article about the use of colloidal silver for non-healing wounds, and it specifically mention nasal issues. After some reason on my own, the strongest available OTC preparation was Curad Silver Solutions. I do not expect overnight success, but I can tell you that a month in I am *finally* noticing some promising results. I haven't told my ENT yet. I will do so at the halfway mark. Science requires evidence.
The medicine is wonderful! This is much more effective than those "tripple antibiotic poos sold in the store. My low score is because the Walmart web site keeps making me go through as many as forty or fifty of those stupid captcha challenges every time I try to shop for something. It took me TWO DAYS to get this one item ordered and I already knew what I wanted! I used to order a lot from Walmart but those captcha things have driven me away.
