Though he's now in danger of being completely forgotten - overshadowed by two of his contemporaries, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton - Charley Chase once held court as one of the most popular silent screen comedians in American movies. Born Charles Joseph Parrott in Baltimore, Maryland, Chase began in vaudeville, then went to work for the Christie Film Company, dividing his time between directing comedy, writing gags and tackling juvenile lead roles. He found his greatest celebrity, however, in the comedies of Hal Roach, which made him a true superstar. This box set offers a compendium of Chase comedy shorts including Bad Boy, April Fool, Mama Behave and Mighty Like a Moose.
