Pricey but does the trick
Saved $450 by doing it myself.
Installed over four months ago in my 2001 corolla. Pretty quiet and easy install.
The squeaky wheel is no more...quieted issue and wife is happy!
this item fixed the problem
Fit perfect Works great
part is made in Germany and fit and quality appear to be on par with OEM. on the Corolla, you have to loosen the front engine mount and jack up the front of the engine a little to be able to pull out the main bolt holding the idler. it was still pretty easy and quick to do. squeaking and groaning on startup is now gone
You need to be sure and compress the tensioner cylinder very slowly. If you compress it fast to install the belt you will probably break the device that you put the wrench on to compress the cylinder. The cylinder obviously has a very small pressure opening internally. Take it slow and easy and you will do ok. Just be sure and read the enclosed instructions and it will describe how to compress the cylinder.
The spring cover flew off the part.
It does what it should, but the bolt to release tension can easily start to round off, not good quality
