Having downsized our home I was forced to give up a full home theater w/ BP2002 Towers, CLR 2300 Center + 4xBP2X Surrounds + 12" Supercube. Even at 20 years old this was and remains the best sounding home theater and music experience I have heard. Now onto my new setup which is D9's paired with a D5c Center. The sound from these speakers is great and clarity rivals that of the BP series however I initially hoped that with the passive radiators to get by w/o a sub but just couldn't get the sound I wanted so added the D9 to the mix a week later. With the D9 the overall experience improved significantly leading me to the 5 star rating. Make no mistake these speakers are not as immersive and of course not as powerful as the large Bi-Polar arrays having built-in subs but for the size they are worthy competitors and sound great. The glacier white cabinets are attractive and look very sleek and modern and get frequent praise from friends. My only wish would have been that the front of the speakers also been in white vs. the silver finish so they would look better with the covers removed. If you are tired of your sound bar and looking for an attractive, space saving and great sounding system I would highly recommend these speakers. Just like my old setup which was paired to the top of the line Denon AVR I have the D9's+D5c paired to a Denon AVR as well just one that was about 1/8th the price of the previous one. Might add rears later but with the room layout it would be very difficult so for now I'm happy!!
Got a bug up my pants to replace my excellent but old Polk i70 towers. Bought the D9's and could not be happier. Now my ragtag speaker setup has D9's in front, i70's surrounds, and a polk subwoofer and center speaker. I will replace the center speaker with a DT center speaker as soon as I can afford it, and work my way through replacing the others as well. The D9's are paired with a Marantz 5015, and the combo is magic. Even straight stereo sounds amazing, a trick the Polk's could not perform well (a little hollow and undefined). I set all the speakers on "small," and the bass effect is perfect. The Audyssey calibration function on the 5015 made placing the D9's a breeze. Fluance turntable and Rotel CD both sound phenomenal.
