We searched many different places for a dresser/hutch combo that was not outrageously expensive. We ended up ordering this one, along with the hutch and matching 4 drawer dresser. We are very pleased with the final product. It looks great. We did have a few little parts missing and one piece of wood had a big scratch on it. After reading reviews, I expected something like this to happen. I ordered three or four pieces of furniture at the same time so we figured it won't all come looking perfect. We called about the parts missing and they were nice to send us some replacement parts (it took longer to get the replacement parts than it did for the actual dresser). For the big scratch on the wood, they told us we would have to take the whole dresser back to Wal-Mart to return it there and order a whole dresser. We did not want to wait and my husband had already put part of it together, so we just dealt with the scratch. It looks very nice in our baby's room, and I really like it. When you expect that not everything being shipped is going to come just perfect then you can still give a good review. We love the color and how it matches the Storkcraft Allison Stages crib we also got from Wal-Mart. Looks very nice and is great for the price.
Although i am sure that this product will be beautiful once we get it put together it didnt come with all of the pieces for us to put it together. We had to go get more hardware and then still none of the pieces fit together. I still haven't gotten it put together because we are going to have to take what we have done apart and just use a nail gun on it because of the difficulty with peices fitting.
I've done alot of assemble it yourself furnture and I'm really underwlemed by this piece. I expect there to be a couple of spots where the engineering is suspect, but this piece is really badly designed and tough to put together. I'm not even done yet because I'm waiting for a replacement piece. The original cracked like glass when I was tightening a screw down
One of the side panels was damaged during shipment. Madison instituted a new policy over the past 2 weeks that they will not separately ship either side panel for replacement. This places us in a difficult and annoying predicament. The product is poorly engineered and a hassle to assemble. Another sad case of "you get what you pay for." If you have a great deal of free time to hassle with this item, then by all means buy it. If time is of the essence for you, seek a better solution.
