Purchased a Denon AVR-X6400H and two of these speakers. Connected my wired surround system to the avr works great, put 1 heos speaker in bedroom and 1 in living room the both work great grouped with the surround system. All this is controlled on my ipad, great app!!! Have had no problems and love this system. Bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had been using and beta testing Sonos for years before recently switching everything over to Heos. The better sound quality was a big reason but add to that hi-res audio support, Bluetooth support and the battery option for the Heos 1 and it was an easy decision. It also integrates better with 3rd party automation systems like Control4 now that Sonos blocked UPNP support.
Sounds quality is really good for the size of the speaker, however for me the biggest drawback is the lack of Apple music support, this is heavily restrictive for me as the majority of the Music I own was purchased via iTunes.
I picked up a pair of HEOS 1s to add to my home system. I already have 2 5s and a soundbar / subwoofer and wanted a couple extra small speakers for other rooms. I was impressed with how solid they are built and how much punch they have for being such small speakers. Very happy with my purchase.
Connected to an Echo Dot. Connected first to BT... connection kept timing out. NP i understand the BT timeout.....Switched to DIRECT aux connection, came home after a weekend away and it disconnected itself so completely that I couldn't even find it on the app.....
I was under the impression these could be used as additional speakers to my wired speaker on my Denon 4300H to watch TV. Weeks later i still have no idea how to run them simultaneously with my wired speakers. Integration with Alexa is problematic. drops far too often to be relied upon without re-requesting. HEOS software hangs... not even close to expected level of simplicity for operation or reliability. no feedback in software for status of speaker. says it is playing when it is not! really should have the ability to update its software!
This speaker only connects via Bluetooth when it wants to- and it rarely wants to. Super frustrating- it worked yesterday and today it's like, nah, I'm tired.
I got one of these "free" with the purchase of a Denon receiver, and ordered a second one to put in a remote room. The initial setup went fine, and the speakers sound adequate for the price and space, but then I began having connectivity issues. The speakers would not appear in the mobile app, and I have had to reinstall them several times. This is pretty par for the course with Denon product software. They make a very nice hardware item, but the accompanying mobile app software is horrible. I have two Denon receivers, and two Heos 1 speakers, and the quality (or lack thereof) of the mobile app control software leaves much to be desired.
The Heos 1 sounds OK on the rare occasions that it has worked. I have gone through the set up sequence several times. Sometimes it works for a day or two, sometimes it won't connect at all. Spent a few minutes with it yesterday and it actually played, and then worked fine this morning. Came home this afternoon and not working again. I've had the same results when trying to hook up directly with a cable. Tried resolving problem with Denon online service and their comment was that I needed to check my WiFi. I did, plenty of signal and other WiFi devices work fine much further away from my router. Bought this because I had used a Denon receiver for years with great results. The HEOS 1 on the other hand has disappointed from day 1.
I must first say the speaker itself for its size produces great sound. However this is pretty much where to good news stops and its positives are irrelevant when its a nightmare if not impossible to get the desired sound to the speaker! I purchased the HEOS 1 as an experiment to see how good the overall system is before speaker on anything more expensive, in short the usability of the system is extremely limited and has not progressed in the months I've own it. If Denon ever becoms serious about streaming then I will come back and look at buying additional units and the big brother/sister units but for my HEOS 1 will gather dust quietly (literally) on the shelf. This product line has great potential but the software (app) is decades behind where it needs to be and not very reliable for the limited functionality it has. For me I should be able to stream any audio source from any app on my phone or computer directly to the HEOS speaker(s) I should not have to use the HEOS App or be restricted to what it allows. EG, I'm sitting on my back porch watching a show or a football game on my iPhone or computer etc. I should be able to directly stream the audio from that to the speakers, but nope not a chance! Sure I can ad hoc an apple tv or an airport express but why should I havre to do that having purchased "wireless speakers" its farcical. Right now all you can do is send audio from the very limited "approved" streams in the app which are all audio providers only. In summary I would stay away for spend any amounts of money on these unless you sole intent is to steam radio from the limited providers it acknowledges it supports. For me this product fails in all aspects us usability sad functionality.
