I have wanted Jolly Hotei for about 10 years or more. He just made me smile every time I saw him and I loved the tradition that surrounds him, makes for a good conversation starter! He also reminded me a lot of my grandparents home as well, who were world travelers and my Granddaddy spent six months with Buddist monks overseas. I would check often to make sure Toscano still had Hotei over the years. Then one day recently I noticed he was on sale and then my email got a message from DT that offered 25% off all products. That's when I finally took the leap and purchased Hotei! Even though at the time he was out of stock, I was pleasantly surprised he came in a week early. I can now say Hotei is now in his home, which is in my office at work. I know most folks put them in their garden, but since I don't have a garden I decided I should put him where he not only will make me smile when I need it most, but he's the first thing everyone will see when they walk through my office door. He is very happy and my favorite photo of my grandparents accompanies him! Thank you Toscano for finally making my dream of having Jolly Hotei finally come true!! :)
I bought hotei about 15 years ago and I am very happy with this purchase. It sits on my lanai by the pool, in the Florida sun, and it just faded a bit. My husband painted it and it looks like brand-new, as you can see. I am glad I could add him to my other buddah and reclining thai Buddha I purchased quite a few years ago from you as well. Thank you for a super product.
Just got this Buddha two days ago. You can't help but smile when you look at it. I arranged it in the entrance to my garden to welcome my guest. LOVE IT!!

Love my Buddha. We get so many compliments on him and everyone wants to rub his tummy. We placed him in the corner of our yard under a plumeria tree and planted pink flowers all around him. It's adorable.

I wanted a happy fat Buddha for a garden I am planning. Most of the statues I found, while charming, were far too small for an outdoor setting. And if I found a larger one, it cost hundreds of dollars! This chubby, happy Buddha is of substantial size without a matching price tag. He was a great value, and even more handsome "in person". I am eager to find him an appropriate home in my garden. He makes me smile every time I look at him. Namaste!

Buddha means "One Who is Awakened." The Jolly Buddha, or Hotei, contains many symbols. The bald head represents "wisdom", the big belly "good luck", the long ears "long life" and he holds gold over his head for "prosperity." He adorns my front porch beautifully, and I like to think he is bestowing all these qualities on all who enter my home. He holds up well in all weather and I hope he continues to do so for many more years.
