This Blu-Ray helped me calibrate two family TVs, which were previously set up with the naked eye. The brightness and contrast settings were WAY off with that method. Disney WOW helped me get it right on both sets, and the difference is very noticeable. If you don't want to spend a fortune getting your TV professionally calibrated, I believe this is the next best option. For such a small investment, the results are great. I am a fairly technical person, but this Blu-Ray was very easy to use. There are both basic and advanced calibration options, and each one has very clear instructions. It also comes with a second disc that contains video footage so you can enjoy your results. Both the packaging and production quality are what you would expect from Disney - great. I am so happy I did this, and I highly recommended.
A must-have for HDTVs. After using the WOW disk to adjust my flat-panel LED television picture settings I can really see the improvement in picture quality. It is like I have a brand new television. Afterwards, I used what I learned adjusting the television for Blu-ray disc movies to adjust my HDTV for over-the-air broadcast television. Commercial television never looked so good.
This calibration disk is fantastic, easy to use, fun also if you choose those options, I thought my LED TV had a decent picture before, but it is so much better now, highly recommend this product, Disney did a great thing here!!!!!!!!
Well, I must say Disney did a fantastic job putting this DVD together! Picture and sound are near flawless. Never have seen my tv look this good and it's 4 years old.
This product is properly named, WOW. I did review research before making this purchase and it is everything as advertised and more. Before using the discs to tweek my settings I was, what I thought, spot on. But after tuning all the setting using the discs...WOW! What a pleasure to watch HD the way it is supposed to be. My son used it on an older HDTV, which made his picture better but not as nice as on my new HDTV.
This is not a quick process so set aside enough time to do it properly and the results are worth it. We could definetly see an improvement in the picture quality when we finished.
Great Blu-Ray to Calibrate your Home entertainment system. Will save you some money instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a pro to come and do it for you.
The DISNEY WOW disc should not be taken a a lightweight calibration tool because of who has created it. Disney folks have developed a professional sound and video calibration Bluray disc. While it is certainly going to be useful for novices attempting their first TV setup and calibration, it also will completely satisfy the more technically oriented. The audio test tracks are probably the weakest part of the disc, and will absolutely require a sound meter (the Shack has one) to get an accurate sound level out of a surround system. For a quick setup and/or problem solving, WOW is quite helpful. The video test tracks are far ahead of so-called professional discs that are out there. WOW has an entry level set of instructions and screen shots that will quickly get your TV looking like it was designed, and not cartoon-ish or washed out. The advanced screens and test patterns will allow the most finicky tech specialist to achieve the "perfect" image, right on the desired target specifications. The instructions are complete and understandable. There is an included blue filter for color/hue setup, and some wonderful alternative strategies for those who can't ever get the filter to work for them as intended. Worth the price.
Very easy to use for a beginner. It walks you through step by step. I haven't got into the advanced section yet but will later on. My TV picture looks great now. The disc was a big help in getting the right settings.
This gets good reviews from the experts, as a basic, and easy to use set-up disc, and I would agree. It was a whole lot cheaper than the other ones recommended, but if I had to do over, I think I would shell out the money, and get the Spears & Munsil disc. 95% of you all will be happy with the results you get from this WOW disc, but for example, it does not offer a calibration for each individual color, just a general color, and tint, and saturation type adjustments, which you actually just set up as you think best by comparing different pictures they provide. One with various fruits in it, and another with a face, to see how any adjustments you made affected skin tones. And you are to just switch back and forth between these pictures until you think you got it at it's best!! It is very helpful though to get the most basic, and most important levels adjusted properly, like brightness, black level, and sharpness, and contrast, etc.
