I read several other reviews of different knives available on this site and others and I kept coming back to Ginsu and the great reviews they received. I was a bit worried about other writing on reviews that these knives would rust quickly, but I have not see this has happened to me for the time being. These knives are very sharp ( I had forgotten what it was like to have a really sharp knife to cut with!!)....and I am very pleased with this set. Plenty of different knives to choose from in the set. They look great on the countertop too. I also feel they are a great value.
We've had this knife set for almost 3 weeks now. They are extremelly sharp and look great. Also, there are no signs of rust spots. Initially we got a set of Chicago Cuttlery knives. They were as sharp and I liked their looks even better but after a few washes they started showing small rust spots, so we returned them. We are very happy so far with this set and all the extra items that came with it, including the kitchen scissors.
Ginsu is sharp enough, atleast for me. The only thing that could have been better is it's finish. Finish is not what i had expected nevertheless the knives are what matter most & they are good. Be carefull, i chopped off a few nails while chopping onions...lol
I was surprised that these knives came with extras! I love the whole set. They are very sharp, though, which is what kitchen knives are supposed to be-right? Keep in mind when using them for the first time! Your thumb will thank you! These have cut through all vegetables/breads/etc with little effort. I am pleased with these.
I have paid over 1,00 for my Kyocera ceramic knives which I LOVE, but I wanted also wanted a set that I could abuse. I have had success with Ginsu in the past so I ordered this set. They cut so well that I now use them more often then my expensive knives. The blades are so sharp that they can cut chicken in 1/4" slices.
Prior to this purchase we had been using a very cheap set of kitchen knives. After having broken the handle off three of them, we decided it was time to get some quality knives. After comparing prices and evaluating what we wanted in a knife set we thought we'd give the Ginsu a try. They work great! The bonus spoons that come with this set are huge!! (Great for serving!) The only minor drawback is they didn't include a knife block that would fit all the knives. The large butcher and santoku knife didn't have a home. I ended up making a couple of leather sheaths for them. Also, including a smaller santoku would have been nice.
I was in desperate need of new knives. I have been using the same generic knives forever and concluded I needed new ones when my arm hurt after sawing into whatever needed to be cut. I did not want to waste my money on another cheap set that lasts only six months, but didn't want to spend 100's of dollars either. After reading the previous reviews, I decided this was the set for me. I am completely happy with them and they are heavan compared to what I had before. I love to cook and these knives just make my time in the kitchen even more enjoyable. They cut great and look wonderful. They are heavy and feel like 100$ knives. Wish there were slots for all the knives, as there are two extra. I wash and dry them right away and have had no problems with rust spots. love them!
This knife set is worth the $60 that I paid for them, however I was a little disappointed. The scissors work well but are very flimsy feeling. The knifes.... well, so far-so good...I question the durability. They are very sharp & are beautiful setting on the counter. I have owned them for a month now & I do like them. I don't think they are as good a set as my old set which was "chicago cutlery", but only time will tell. I do think they will be worth the money I paid.
I bought them as a chirstmas gift for my wife. 6 months into owning, the scissors broke. That was not a big deal because they were cheap and i wanted to replace them anyways. the problem now though is the steak knives are breaking. the break where the handle and the blade connect. It is not just 1, it is 4 of the 6 and another knife in the block is having the same problem. So now I am trying to figure out how to get them replaced though Ginsu and it is not an easy process. I liked the knives at first but now im wishing i went with something else.
I was excited to receive these as a gift to replace my dull knives. These worked okay, better than my dull ones, but not as sharp as I expected. Then, before even a year passed, they started rusting! At first I just thought a few spots here and there, no big deal. PS: I didn't even have a dishwasher when they started rusting. But rust is now on almost all of my knives and the kitchen shears are completely useless. They are so rusted that I can't even open them! I emailed the company because of the lifetime warranty, but it will cost me more in shipping than these are worth!! Unhappy with the product, it doesn't last as promised.
