Downton Abbey: Season 1 (Masterpiece) (DVD)

A wonderful view of a more noble time.

Downton Abbey is a wonderful drama about the nobility at the turn of the 20th century. The visuals are grand beyond belief and the characters are superbly portrayed. All the actors are in peak form, especially Maggie Smith, who plays the Dowager Countess of Grantham. Her quips are razor-sharp! I whole heatedly recommend this drama to anyone who appreciates expert story telling.

Downton Abbey is an excellent series, very well written and acted. I find it extremely satisfying to watch. I especially enjoy the history of the setting at Highclere Castle and the caracters, upstairs and down. I had not seen Series I and was happy to find it at Walmart online.

Downton Abbey Addition

I LOVED the entire DVD. The story lines and characters were captivating. The actors were great (they do not over-act), the makeup and wardrobe is perfect, the story line correlates with history and the main families are really good people. I am hooked on the Abbey. I loved it so much that I purchased season 2 and 3. My hubby even liked it. He wont tell anyone however.

Downton Abbey

If you like "period" drama, you will LOVE these DVD's. The daily running of an English mansion amidst all the drama of the family and the staff. It starts in the early 20th century with the sinking of the Titanic and goes on from there. I own all 3 of the seasons and highly recommend them all. The transaction was easy and I got my shipment though regular mail and it was only about 1 weeks wait.

the acting is wonderful and the clothes and scenery is excellent. I like how the story unfolds and how everything intertwines. All the plots and intrigue upstairs and down. I will be watching many times so I do not miss a single thing. Highly recommended.

Excellent series

So glad I ordered this. I had seen the 2nd & 3rd season on PBS. Now I've seen the first & it all comes together. Love this dvd, I can watch it over & over. Love the extras! It seems more like a movie, than a tv series. I guess, I enoy it so much more than any of today's movies!

Wonderful Product!

This Downton Abbey DVD is great and at a reasonable price. It was a present so I don't have an opinion on the product but I know they like it a lot! Everything about the experience I loved, especially that I could track my order. My only concern is that the shipping date was a Friday but it came the following Monday. I don't know if they got the date wrong or if there was just a delay. Overall, I would recommend the Walmart online services to buy a DVD.

DVD is as good as the Blu-Ray version

in had the Blu Ray version but my player would not play it right for some unknown reason now i got the DVD version if you get the Blu-ray version, be sure it will play them OK, don't Buy LG Players they don't work at least the one i had did not and it would not play my old DVDs and i did get my money back
